After completing my Sophmore year at Cupertino High, my parents and I moved to Everett, WA. where I graduated from high school. Though not my choice, I adjusted.
Before completing my AA degree in Liberal Arts, my mother past away and I was diagnosed with an incurable kidney disorder. Despite these unfortunate and painful circumstances, I attended a private school in the Midwest for 1 year and understandably, did very poorly that year. So I left college life and moved to Georgia to live with family who needed financial help. I applied for a job at Lowe's and became the Warehouse Team Leader overseeing the operations of the warehouse and lumber yard areas. About 1.5 years later, the store closed down and I moved to California and start over.
I applied at a YMCA as a Teacher's Aide and worked my way up to a Center Director position while attending San Jose State University where I earned a BA in Child Development and a minor in Music. Though it took awhile, it was worth the time and effort!
After graduating, my YMCA supervisors selected me to open and direct a brand new child care facility. I stayed with the Y for a total of about 8 years.
Then I left the YMCA for a more lucrative, but much less fulfilling job. Though I gained some new skills and insight, after 3.5 years, I decided to move on.
During both of these two job time periods , I joined a Presbyterian church and became the Assistant Youth Choral Director for 3 years and the Youth Choral Director for 1 year. I organized a 1 week tour in Seattle, WA. where the group performed a musical at a church, 3 nursing homes and 2 homeless shelters. We also worked at a soup kitchen for a 3 days and set aside 1 day to be Seattle tourists.
I also sang in a community choir that was associated with Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA.
After the tour and leaving my job, I relocated to California's central coast because of the affordable housing market, slower pace of life, and outstanding weather. Though the job prospects were initially bleak, I worked for a local school district as a Special Education Aide for 1.5 years and enjoyed the job very much, but it was only part time. So I applied for and received the position as a Child Care Director at the nearby local YMCA. I oversee 2 childcare facilities and 6 after school programs. I also purchased my very first home and joined a church where I sing on the worship team. I also sing in the local community choir as well.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to travel throughout the United States visiting family and friends and travel abroad to Costa Rica where I went horseback riding, ziplining through the rain forest and immersed in a truly wonderful Central American culture.
Earlier this year, I enjoyed my first boat cruise. The destinations were Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. I will definitely take another cruise in the future.
