lifelong friendships - 54 years since graduation - missing those who couldn't be there - reconnecting with some we only get to see once a year now - so many memories in this group from a time that i don't see repeated ever again - we were children of the 40s, 50s, 60s, and then we grew into the men and women our parents hoped (and prayed) we'd be (lol) - we were awesome - our lives began AFTER a war - our childhoods were in neighborhoods very much like the HAPPY DAYS our kiddos watched on tv - we 'endured' a horrible war in Vietnam that claimed lives and souls of many of our classmates - we 'survived' the 60s and all the changes in our culture those times involved - we share memories of schools (our grade schools, jr highs, BA) because that's how we rolled back then - we started in one with some of these same people and we ended at one with these same people - we 'grew up' together in ways we can only now appreciate fully - and so, once a year we gather and eat together and visit with one another and look through our '64 annual at those bright, shiny faces from 54 years ago looking back at us and then glance over at the faces of the present and in our hearts we smile and embrace the moment because there are far too many now who have gone on and are no longer able to join us for these gatherings and when we hear the names of the recent losses we stop for that moment and remember them and weep in our hearts for the loss it means for this amazing CLASS OF 64 - if you've ever heard the phrase 'we were golden', believe me when i tell you each of us knows EXACTLY what that means!
Enjoyed seeing you Sat. Also could you post you awesome comment you posted on Facebook, & post on our Facebook page, it was wonderful memory!
