Attended UT Austin. Studied 2x in Germany. I was a great disappointment to Frau Webb, but probably did more with German than any other of her pupils. Then U.Chicago law. Practice in Pittsburgh (got job through wife's connections to a family in Eagle Pass, where we were married). After 7 years, got 2 year stipend to Georgetown for LLM - one year in DC and one in Frankfurt. After that, 40+ years advising German companies in their US acquisitions. Also advised South African Atomic Energy Corporation and so know SA pretty well. Odd story - one lawyer on the other side was HHS grad. His client lied to us and we dropped the acquisition. Based in NYC until 2017 when moved back to Pittsburgh. Through some odd circumstances, have a German Special Service Cross - Verdienstkreuz. Ended law practice Dec. 31, 2022. Good run.
Broke into HHS twice on weekends and took out a baritone sax, then returned it. Harmless. Easy. A few years ago I sat at a luncheon in NYC next to a woman with a really strong accent. Turned out she had gone to Hockaday and knew Ms. Cox, who had been headmistress at Hockaday after HHS.
SC Foster, then EH Carey JH

Funny place you ended up. We lived in Mt. Kisco for 40 years and my wife had her family therapy pracitce in New Canaan. Now we're in Pittsburgh. Sounds grim, but live in Mr. Rodgers' coop building and am walking distance to CMU and Pitt. Lots of great musin in Pittsburgh for little money.
How sad. The Martindales lived across the street from us on Desco. Her father Bruce was a Braniff pilot back when being an airline pilot was a big deal. I recall his saying that Braniff was the best for pilots because its routes were South to North and back, so he didn't have to fly into the sun. Her older brother went east to college, perhaps WIlliams. He drove a Sunbeam or TR2 or something similar. Very cool. So sorry to read this news. Rob
Thanks for all this information. I had wondered for years what she was doing in Ireland. I had stopped in Cork on a ship to Amsterdam and had assumed she had also put in there. What a loss. To take nothing away from Kathleen, Ann Campbell was salutatorian. Did we have more than one? I thought Patty was Valadictorian. I recall worrying about not graduating due to the Senior Pub. But Ann was on the staff and had a speaking role. Maybe that played no role in the events.
Do you still have the Harley? I recall your saying you looked stupid on a smaller bike.
Perhaps the best obituary I've ever read. Sorry I don't remember Jimmy.
Yes we sat together in home room for years. I am sorry to hear about her death. She was a nice, friendly person. I have only nice memories of her.

Re El Chico ad, I suspect I was the only Anglo bus boy ever at that restaurant. My (also Anglo) girlfriend from TJ was a waitress there. Plus I liked the food. I worked the same summer as a mailman. Delivered out of Inwood - the Afro American neighborhood by Love Field where I saw live chickens sold out of the trunk of a Cadillac and also Ross Perot's mail. I knew where the coke machines were set on the coldest settings. Some postal patrons (technical term) put out ice water or cold beer. A great job.
Sources on the Internet indicate Kathleen died in Ennis, Ireland on July 20, 1968. She is buried in Restland Cemetary.
