Met John in 8th grade. John was really a cool friend. We reconnected yrs ago. He had throat cancer and couldn't talk. We exchanged lots of email. John had the coolest English bulldog named Winston. Rest in peace cool dude.
Many classmates were a shock to me. John was one of them. We were good friends and I along with so many others will dearly miss him. I'm so sorry I didn't know he was sick or I would have reached out to him. I just lost touch with so many people over the years.
John and I were friends in Preston Hollow. One time his mom and him picked me up for an event. She was a TV personality and very beautiful. They picked me up in her white thunderbird. Exciting night. Also, I ran into John years later, he worked at Texas Stadium for the Cowboys. Nice guy.
I didn't know John Basham hardly at all, he was a Preston Hollow guy and I was a Pershing guy. I think I had him in one or two of my classes at HHS in that I am not sure, but if memory serves me right, which is not a good thing now, we had during our senior year, Ms. Kathryn C. Taylor for English. John seemed like a good guy and I am sorry we never got to formally know each other. RIP John!!! You are up there in heaven with others that went before you and now hurt no more with eternal life that we all seek one day.
