I met Van when we were 5 years old running the streets at Fitzhugh and Capital. Then we met back up at Dan D. Rogers in the 5th grade. We were friends off and on through high school, and then I went to college and Van joined the Navy. We became great friends when we both came back to Dallas. It was one of the saddest days of my life when in died in 1979. My family and I have reminisced about Van many times over the years. Such a huge loss in my life.
I met Van through Jim Morris and what a great guy! It is always tragic when you learn about someone you knew, gone way too soon! I often think about Van and others who have gone before their time!
