Carolyn was a close friend of mine.  Her parents moved to DC our senior year, and they rented a room in a house across the street from me.  We were like sisters our senior year.  We always kept in touch after high school, but we really re-connected when in 1998, I lost my 17 year old son, and she and her husband invited me to California for Spring Break and entertained Janie Bryan Loveless and me on the West Coast for a fun week.  She passed away two years ago in September after a long illness with cancer.  Janie and I flew to Potomac, MD to celebrate her 65th birthday and Sarah Stroud and I went to spend some time with her about 2 months before she passed away.  She had a wonderful attidute about her illness and about life in general.  What a sweet generous friend, who I still miss.

Carolyn was my closest friend in our jr. and senior yrs at HHS. We survived honors classes by passing notes and almost giggling outloud and uncontrollably (just as Celia Osborn, Juliet Kramolis and I did in our first grade class at Preston Hollow, which sent us to the principal's office way too early in our academic careers!) Carolyn was such a gift in my life, and I was so blessed to be able to treasure her friendship as long as we could. She is unforgettable.

Carolyn and I were good friends because of playing flute in the band and being majorettes together.  I regret that we did not keep up, but I'm so glad to hear some stories about her from some of you girls who did. Her infectious smile and her giggle are definitely things I remember fondly.
