Jim was my next door neighbor growing up and through high school. I remember he had an event down around 3rd or 4th street when we were seniors, and he invited me to go register to vote. He was such a nice goofy guy. He hung around my brothers & his brother Dave doing go cart and other fun stuff. It was so sad when I heard he took his life. I thought "No way! Why?" And then looking back I understood how a person could be in such a remote low devastating mood, as my husband took his life 4 days after getting home from a 6-8 week long hospital stay (legs paralyzed from Guillain-Barre). He was finally able to come home using a walker. And had anxiety and depression meds. It was the night before my birthday too. Then Covid shut things down the day after his funeral. I was blessed I could go home with my daughter in West Chicago and stay with her husband & my granddaughters for a month or so before I thought it safe enough to be myself during those trials with the loss by suicide, being a widow, and being alone after 45 years. My husband was the most level headed guy I knew, too. But God pulled me through it all.
I think that was really nice you were able to reconnect with him back then.
Jim, I was really moved by your beautifully written memorial of Sue. What a special relationship you had with her! And by the sounds of it, many wonderful moments to recall & reminisce about. Even though I never had the chance to know Sue, I feel like she would've been a great friend. I want to share that after my husband passed away last year, a cousin had given me the most special frame that said:
"It's hard to forget someone, who gave you so much to remember."
It probably resonates with you, how profound of an impact she had on your life. I'm really sorry she was taken so young.

Hey Teresa! I happened to see your name here (I’m bad about checking back), and it reminded me that I talked to your dad last year at the nursing home where I helped wheel residents down to Mass. I think he’s since passed away? With the COVID we aren’t allowed in anymore. Hope you’re doing great!

Hi Peggy, I see you are a member of our Class of '74 website. Wondered how you've been doing? I didn't make it to the reunion, but it's nice to contact people here. Hope all is well!
