Freshman Year
September 1967

Junior Year
September 1969
- Larry Brown comes and goes as basketball coach
- Terry Holland takes job as coach
- Slade/Kelley football team begins miracle season with Tangerine Bowl goal
October 1969
- Faculty votes to suspend classes for Vietnam Protest Moratorium
- Sigma Chi disaffiliates with National after admitting Mike Maloy as a member
- Davidsonian reviews "Easy Rider"
- Rotary Connection plays for Homecoming
November 1969
- Board agrees to Coed Swap
- Davidson football team beats ECU to go to Tangerine Bowl
- "Guess Who" plays in Chambers
January 1970
- "Little Anthony" and "James Cotton Blues Band" play at Midwinters
- Football team loses to Toledo??? in Tangerine Bowl
- Ran Coble elected to be SGA president
February 1970
- Senate advocates 24hr open dorms
- Basketball team beats #1 USC 68-62 in Columbia
March 1970
- Wildcats win Southern Conference then loose to #3 St. Bonaventure and Bob Lanier in NCAA
- Julian Bond speaks on Campus
April 1970
- "Chicago Transit Authority" plays at spring Frolics
- Dispute with Trusteees over open dorms
- "Woodstock" movie opens in Charlotte and is reviewed in The Davidsonian as an aspect of "Amerikan Kulture".
May 1970
- "Campus Erupts in Protest over Cambodia and Kent State"
- ROTC Drills disrupted
- Tennis Team wins Southern conference, losing only one match
Senior Year
September 1970
- Our class begins its senior year
- Articles state Fraternities hitting new low
October 1970
- Kenny Rogers plays at Homecoming
- Dorms are officially open for Homecoming - dates not housed in Belk
- Some Fraternities adopt "open house" policy
- Self selection approved. Rush is canceled
April 1971
- Phi Beta Kappa taps 21 seniors
May 1971
- Self selection into eating clubs begins
- Queens to enter co-ed exchange program
- Davidson Peace Coalition holds 3 day fast for peace
- Approximately 230 members of the Class of '71 receive their diplomas
- Approximately 10 seniors to graduate during the summer
The Davidsonian reports that:
63 graduates were commissioned into the Army Reserves as Second Lietenants;
27 additional seniors to be commissioned by end of the summer
Over 100 class members attending graduate school
26 law school
26 medical school
14 planned to enter the military
1 to join Peace Corp
The Davidonian also reports that although many had not decided on their plans after graduation,
some have decided to go into a wide variety of occupations including
a farmer, milkman, gas station attendant, foreman for U.S. Steel, manager of a
pizza parlor, a professional football player, an artist, salesman and a management
trainee for Sears and Roebuck.
