At the age of 65+, I decided to hang it up after teaching high school biology, English, speech, drama, and finally college writing and interp of literature for SMSU on the high school campus. I found that although I loved biology, I was a much better English teacher. I had a hard time understanding why students didn't see the wonder of science as I did. I am now turning our eight grandkids into minature scientists. We have turned a bedroom closet into "Grandma's Science Room." Fun!! Summers are busy with our big flower beds and fish ponds. When we aren't working on those, we spend much of our time at the cabin up near Bemidji. I love fishing and have now gotten to the point when the grandkids put on MY bait and take off MY fish--I still run the motor. Much of my time the last three years has been spent helping my mom and dad. Dad passed away in June, and Mom is in Dawson at Prairie Meadows. Vernetta's folks are there also, so we see each other every once in a while. I really enjoyed the reunion but just wished we had more time to really visit in depth. Maybe next time we could look at a less formal setting than a cocktail/dinner venue. I told Charlie that I would help organize next time, so any brainstorming would help us out. Next time.
