Just retired to Flic-en-flac, Mauritius. Mauritius is an island east of Madagascar off the coast of Africa, a resort spot, like Hawaii for Europeans. It is near Reunion Island and Diego Garcia. She loves to travel. Carolyn has visited many countries, and taught in California, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, Turkey, and China. She has taught both elementary and secondary education. She joined Huamei Academy in China in the 2011-12 school year. She did post- graduate work at Pepperdine University and UC Berkeley. An early area of focus was education through the arts. She trained with the Julia Morgan Center for the Performing Arts, Berkeley, California; thereafter, she offered the practical application of mixed media, drama, and dance to her students. English as an Additional Language has been a focus of her teaching and training for more than two decades. Carolyn was a Walt Disney Teacher of the Year Finalist in 2004. Curiosity about the world and the people in it brought her to teach at Huamei College Preparatory Academy.
