Robert your lucky, I never really get to listen to music anymore...not since I stopped working. Kids got their mouths going, cartoons...I swear I'm dreading when they all want to use the computer. My favorite Ozzy is Diary of a Mad Man....Tonight, Little Dolls...are my favorites.

To all of the men of the class of 88: Happy belated sweetest day!

Oh do you feel left out Robert...Happy Belated Sweetest Day. Even though I have always hated Halmark Holidays.. I'll be damned if some blood sucking retail company is going to tell me when to get hot & horny & ready to receive gifts twice a year. I'll buy chocolate & lingerie when I want, & I don't need no more jewerly. Just my feelings on the "holiday".

Hooker, there is no way you are in White Cloud! Do you have a place up there? I was born in Grant, you pass through it getting to White Cloud. My dad was born and raised there! I read your post that you were going north of Grand Rapids and wondered if you were up in White Cloud, ha ha. My Uncle Keith works at the jail in White Cloud. He was Chief of Police in Newaygo forever and retired from that and started working at the jail. So, if you happen to end up in jail, I can get you out! My dad has property right of M-20 and Wisner Road. It is such a happening city! LOL! Have you ever had the huge cinnamon rolls from Sally's, they serve them with a huge styrofoam cup of frosting! I have not had one in years since John is always in a hurry to get up to the property, the kids are done riding in the car and have been for the last 199 miles and the dogs can't wait to get out, either. Are you related to Judy Hooker, Harry Hooker or Shirley Hooker, she worked in the courthouse in White Cloud for a very long time. Enjoy White Cloud, "where the north begins and pure water flows"!

Tara...Robert has posted in almost 48 hours??? You might want to give the uncle of your a call to see if Hooker is visiting him? lol

Harry Hooker? That has to be the worst name of all time.

I can't believe you're familiar w/ White Cloud. The cabin's been in our family for over 40 years, and I took it over several years ago. I haven't had the cinnamon roll, but I have eaten Sally's Muffin many times.

When I was 12 years old, we had man covered in blood knocking at our door at 2:30 in the morning.

Kids: Do you want to hear the story? I'll tell you later.

Of course we want to hear the story. Is White Cloud near Newaygo? I agree, it's really pretty up there. My college roommate had her wedding at a summer camp, called Camp Henry, which is right around that area. So bring on the story, Hooker!

Robert,
My dad's family is all still up there, one of two uncles live on Robinson Lake, the other in town. I have 2 aunts that live right off 37 kind of by John's Produce, remember when they had the deer behind the building? Many cousins up there, too. Where is you family's cabin? My dad said he knows some "Hookers" up there, those are the ones I mentioned earlier, not real hookers! My dads property (he has 40 acres) is by Mini Pond. Sally's is the "cool" place to go show off your deer!
Yes, you will have to tell us your White Cloud story. For such a small place, it sure has it's stories. Remember about 10 or so years ago (I think it was more like 15 years) a teenager shot and killed her mom and dad while they we in bed because she was sick of taking care of her brothers and sisters while her mom and dad got drunk and slept all the time. She got away with it, too. My aunt taught "special ed" and ended up with that girl in her special emotionally impared class, my aunt said she creeped her out.
We are up there, every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend and my sister Adrina and Max (Jerore) and their 3 boys go up more than we do. It would be funny to run into you at "The Jug" do you know where that place is? Did you ever run into Ted Nugent up there, he had a lot of property and was there quite often, from what he saiid, any how he sold all the property when Michigan would not let you hunt doves an longer. We saw him two times when we were older, one time was at the Eaton House and the other was when we stayed at "The Shack", now that is a really cool place, it is an all log cabin hotel and at 10:00 every night you go down and make banana splits! Tell us your story, please. I will be waiting to hear it!
Kathleen, yes Newaygo is by White Cloud.

Sorry - busy day. I'm in NYC for the last time this week (didn't I say that last week?).

We're back in the woods on 10 acres. It's about 2:30 in the morning and I'm at the cabin w/ my brother, dad, and grandfather. I'm 12 years old, sleeping, and had (still am) always been a little nervous about being at the cabin at night. There is no phone.

We are sound asleep and hear a loud knock, almost a pounding at the front door. We wake up and I'm scared to death. My dad goes to the door, and my brother and I are standing behind him as he answers it. He turns on the front porch light and we see him - a man w/ his shirt wrapped around his head (it's November), and blood dripping down his face. I was terrified.

My dad opens the front door, as my grandfather stands behind all of us w/ a shotgun. The man tells my dad that he can't find his friends. My dad asks a couple of questions, and realizes that the man was drinking and driving, and crashed his car down the road. My dad gives my brother a knife and tells him to get in the back seat, while 'Stan' sits in the front (plastic on the seat). I stood w/ my grandfather and watched them drive away. I cried and thought that was going to be the last time I would see my dad and brother. They get to the accident site, and my dad finds the passenger w/ the dashboard, literally, shoved in his chest. He's dead. There's another man in the back seat in 'shock'. Long story, Stan ended up receiving manslaughter.

This event has affected me to this day. Honest.

Holy Crap, Hooker. I can't even imagine how scary and awful that must have been, especially at the age of 12. So sorry you had to experience it....

Way to keep on track Dan! But childhood scars are memories that even if their F'ked make us who we are today. I know when I (my whole family) was hit by a drunk driver...me & my hubby totally disagreed w/each in regards to how this man should be punished. I personally was thrilled that at a complete stand still, waiting to make a left hand turn, that being plowed in the ass at 55+ mph...We are all lucky to of been alive. The young guy who hit us was totally remorseful, he had blood coming down his head & he was worried about my family who came through w/out so much as a scratch. The impact was so hard that it snapped the front passenager seat in half (my seat). I had literally ended up w/my upper torso in my then 5 1/2 years olds lap. It twisted the frame of the huge Ramcharger we were in, pushed up the back hatch crunching the gas tank...but no leakage to the gas tank. We were blessed by the grace of god...but my hubby looks at it as the muther f'er that took out his favorite car & gave us a car payment. He wanted to see the kid get the worse...I wanted him to catch a break...we did. I never did find out what happened to him for a sentencing. I just pray for him. And we all know I'm not the praying type! But at anytime that could of been me as the drunk driver...but I was blessed to never have the nightmare of the results this poor guy had...even the could of killed someone has to haunt you.

Tara,
Do you remember Jeff Bardelli? He lived somewhere near you. I think he may have gone to St Alberts. Wonder what happened to him?

10/22/08 06:38 PM #113

Tara Wismar (Nickell)

Tracey, yes I do remember him. I think he either lived down the street or around the block. Wasn't Sara Rodriguez in love with him? Was he older or younger? My sister might remember him. I will ask her. Wow, you guys sure remember a lot! I guess I have a terrible memory.

10/23/08 10:00 AM #114

April Passen (Ochman)

Sara Rodriguez, wow thats a name I haven't heard in forever. She was a unique individual. Sweet as pie, but should of been blonde to match the sterotype. I think alot of that was an act for her to get attention? I mean seriously that girl had a many Jessica Simpson moments.

10/23/08 03:22 PM #115

Cara Onkalo (Fitzpatrick)

Tracey, have you kept in touch with Kathy Webb and Becca North? I've been thinking about you guys lately. I just got Sirius satellite and they play Loverboy a lot on the 80's channel, which always makes me flash back to the Loverboy concert we went to in 10th grade!! It's great to see you on here after all this time!

10/23/08 03:59 PM #116

Tara Wismar (Nickell)

April, I knew Sara from pre-school, we went to the church across the street from Southland. Really that was just the way she was. Very bubbly, outgoing and nuts! I was friends with her until she moved away. I ran into her one time when me and and some teachers went out to eat (I loved half days) and she was at the restaurant, if I remember correctly she lives in California and is a lawyer, actually partner!! She looked exactly the same as she did as a teenager

10/23/08 05:01 PM #117

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

Hi Cara. Oh Man that Loverboy concert was fun. Do you remember stopping at McDonalds or somewhere afterwards and I was singing at the top of my voice and then I started taking requests for songs from the guys at the next table?? Or am I thinking about another time?
Unfortunately I have not heard or seen Cathy or Becca in a really long time. They were in the car with me that snowy day coming home from school and the old man ran the stop sign and hit me. We spun aroung the street three times but none of us was hurt. My mom was so PO'd that I had damaged the car. She still reminds me of it today.
What was the name of that guy you were dating from another school. I used to walk to your house in the morning and he would give us a ride to school?

10/23/08 05:04 PM #118

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

Oh yeah, btw Cara,I have so many memories of swimming at your house. Your's was the only place I knew where there were full size candy bars in the kitchen drawer. It was like heaven...

She's turnin' on the heat
She's got the magic touch
She's turnin' on the heat
And it's a little too much
She's turnin' on the heat
And it's a hundred above, yeah
Hot girls in love
I'm in love

Too many men to please
She counts them all on her rosary
You know you might get burned
So be careful where you touch
She gets it when she can
Don't need no anniversary
And she deserves the best, yeah
A cut above the rest
