so... I am assuming she did not work at a topless bar. In sixth grade I would not have know what one was.

I am also hearing some deeply repressed anger in your message. Try to slow down and breath between sentences.

We must let go of these feelings.

All things must pass.

Bootlip can't hurt you any more...

I think this forum is therapy in itself... Why talk to a stranger when you get to talk to the person themselves... and it's free...LOL

Dan, Of course I had a Billy Squire jersey. Autumn and I went to the concert and as we were walikng out they asked us if we wanted to go back stage? Well, duh. We actually went with Brad Sulkey and them and they had no idea where we were so they ended up waiting in the parking lot until we came out. It was actually pretty ame backsatage and we knew it even back then. My nephew is 16 and kids his age are all into the music we listened to as teens and when he comes over he gives me the lyric test and he can't believe how many lyrics I know (I can't believe it either, I guess it is like riding a bike, you never forget) anyhow he thought he would get me on a Billy Squire song. He obviously didn't know that I know all the words to all his songs! Autumn still has her jersey, I thnk!

April,

I understand your distress about brothers. In 9th grade I had Mr. Mc Donald who a few years earlier had been slugged in the face by my older brother Roy because he and Danny Williams were fighting. He asked me about it first day of class...

About the puppies....

As I told the kids...They are in Heaven peeing on a fire hydrant made of rubies. Now, what could be cooler than that?

Mr. Porcia should have retired long before he did. There is something to be said when you get too old to relate with kids.

Vogel was also a jerk in his own right... enough said about that.

Happy Birthday, Dewey!

Romas: Don't ask how I remember, but isn't your birthday on June 25th?

Vogel almost ripped my head off when he heard I was impersonating a 'guest speaker' in 'Careers' class. Take it easy, Mike!

Ok now I loved Vogel! He was so kind, sweet, but yep could be a hard ass.
DAN!!! WELL HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! You & my grandfather share the same day of birth, but I'm pretty sure he was born a few years prior...lol So you having the full 39 candles on that cake?

Dan honestly, Shelly & me recovered from that quick, to be BFF the next day & hate each other again. We were like siblings, total love/hate going there. The only scaring was from Mr. Porchia! That man treated us like animals, so I started to behave like one!

Shannon definately a free type of therapy being offered here, but with no stiff uptightness! Total raw emotions & smart ass come backs! Better then the real thing! And thanks for the card!

Tara, Molly Reaud's daughter loves all the music we use to listen too. She has been going to all sorts of concerts at Pine Knob(opps I mean DTE whatever it's call now) they'll have like a 5 band line up all day thing. I get so jealous that she can just go & waste a whole day at a concert! Funny how the kids like the 80's stuff.
My Daughter's ice show is full of 80's music & she like the mellower stuff too. She is a Bon Jovi, AC/DC, & Pat Benatar fan.

Gwen, I liked that Porchia was scared to death of my mother because of the run ins he had w/her over my sister. My sister was a badass bitch, mean & still is. Kinda like a Shari Hartachers type! I love my sis, but don't like her much. But my mom always had are backs when we were on the side of right, & but if you were on the side of wrong, she'd lead the lynching to correct the problem her child or not.

Tuesday was the deadline for my 5th grader to bring in his "chores for cash" at school. He donated two weeks of his allowance which amounted to $16. I pitched in an additional $20.

Wednesday the class went to Wal-Mart as part of their math assignment and bought supplies and a few gifts for the Women and Childrens Homeless Shelter of Flint. There are three fifth grade classes and together they collected nearly $400.

Today I chaperoned the class trip to the shelter. We got the lowdown on how they operate and got the tour. It was pretty cool and it reminded me of how fortunate I am.

I am thinking of volunteering massage services once a month to the employees and residents of the shelter. I feel the need to give back something. I've never done anything like it before. I think I've become a grown up.

Tracey-I think to give of ones time is the best gift anyone can give. To share this with kids, is what I feel is missing from todays youth. Not to many parents teach their children accountability, whether is be for their own actions or just in society in general. Even though I live in po-dunk PA, if anyone has troubles or hard times, this town will reach out a hand without a request. You don't really see this very much anymore.

April Passen (Ochman)

Ok...I agree so much with volunterring of time! But I just gotta give the realistic throw on your free services. This is coming from the bottom of my heart, BECAREFUL! A lot of very needy people do not know how to take care of themselves. You need to be fearful of rashes, could be ringworm or scabies. And what I am afraid of is that you will find yourself in such a bind trying not to hurt someone's feelings, that you will put yourself & family at risk.

One of the hardest things I had to learn is to have a thick skin, by putting my family first, & at the same time being as much as possible respectful of others feelings. I have learned how to tell someone they have hyigene issues, but also to do so kindly & explain what proper way to take care of this issue. People get very offended when you try to tell them they are doing something wrong, especially if it is something as simple as bathing. Everyone thinks an adult should just know how to do so, but so many think jumping in & running themselves under water once, twice a month is sufficent. Just be prepared girl. There is nothing worse then trying to get rid of something you don't want exceptially if it is under the skin. I have seen ringworm last as long as 5 months once being treated wisely because it had gone so long untreated. I've seen head lice from 3 rows back in a court room on one of my parents when I did child foster care.

OK April, you just made my head itch...OMG!

12/18/08 07:02 PM #1487

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

I appreciate the warning, however as a massage therapist, I've studied pathology and disease extensively with an emphasis on skin disorders for the obvious reasons. I have two textbooks and three reference books just on pathology. I have seen my share of "problems" and yes when I first started out it was difficult to address uncleanliness with clients but I am well beyond the discomfort of that now.

Also, massage can be very effective through the clothes. I just adapt the session by using compression strokes in stead of gliding strokes. It is a modified form of Shiatsu.

Shannon, how is the holiday decorating going?? Does your house look like Bronners yet?

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

Oh yeah, and how is the new dog working out??

12/18/08 08:21 PM #1490

April Passen (Ochman)

Tracey...I never even though about with clothes on! Very good idea. Exceptially for those who have issues with nudity! I wish you well & curious on how it goes. Please keep me informed. If they are truly greatful & it goes well. You have just opened my eyes to a new way of seeking the little extras for my consumers. Although I no longer work at my prior job, in a residential Independent training facility. I am still extremely close with my old boss, & love my consumers. Last Friday I actually went to 4 of my consumers graduation party they had for them, & tomorrow (if weather does change our plans for us) they are renting a 54 passenger bus to go to Hines & Rochester to see the christmas lights. They do it every year, & me my my children were invited again to partake.
Seriously, just thought of another type of service that maybe we could get people to donate their time for, beauty & nails having them just pay for product used! Tracey thanks for the great ideas.

And Tracey if you are asking me about the new dog...puppy was just born day after thanksgiving, ain't got her yet!

12/18/08 08:33 PM #1492

April Passen (Ochman)

Oh oh my mind is just a going...nurses donate time on the whole importance of why to cover your mouths, wash your hands, maybe a cook to share cooking tips. Come on Tracey, your the outside the box thinker...got anymore suggestions?
You got my mind fires going on to the possibilties. Oh Shannon, I got another idea thanks to you, having bankers come out & explain different types of accounts, NSF fees, & how to money manage through a bank.
See my old consumers, most of them have been in Adult foster care, homeless, or living with relatives who are just not able to anymore. These people are high functioning, but no one had ever taken the time to teach them the simple skills we all take for grant.
Tracey, thank you! I have had a hard time getting into the Christmas giving spirit & you have inspired me to think outside my pockets!

Tracey- The house is decorated and it pretty much looks like it puked christmas in every room. At least that's what my husband says. "Sam" (the new dog) is doing great. His only issue, he loves to chase cars. If he sees a truck, he goes a little nuts. I think "auto's" are his drug of choice.

April-I have actually done a program like what you are thinking about. Here in York County, PA, they have a program that helps low income seniors or persons with special needs learn about their finances. I am a volunteer Financial Consultant for the Department of Aging. If a case worker thinks that this is needed for their client, I go in and gather up all the persons financials and show them how to work a budget or just basic banking stuff. How to balance a check book or pay bills. Sometimes a spouse dies and they were the one handling all the bills and banking and the remaining spouse is completely lost. Most of the people I work with earn less that 800.00 a month. It is pretty sad on how many seniors are just forgotten...

When I was home for Thanksgiving, I took food out of the 'operation can do' box at Big Boy.
