i bought Bill the entire series on DVD for Christmas. We've been watching about two episode a night. I never started watching the show until late last season so most of it is new to me.

Denny Crane with Mad Cow is funny. Living in England for a year and a half and seeing the poor teenage kid infected with it on a tv news show was not. We did not eat beef for a year and a half.

Oh what a great gift! I actually got addicted from almost the jump. My mom hated William Shatner, but loved him in Boston Legal, would say, I couldn't see anyone else playing Denny. I think she actually learned to love him.

Bill, I have a question for ya...Is all the baseball parents crazied uptight loons? My daughter Ice Skates, & I know a lot of hockey parents...they all tend to just get to carried away. I am now on the board for Ice skating, all women, & they are something else! I am dealing with emails on the side from them & cady, selfish, cruel people! Tonya Harding was following by example I tell ya.

there are a lot of crazy parents. the problem is that they think their son or daughter will sign the next $180 million dollar deal. When the reality is that less then 1% will even make it to the major leagues in any sport let alone play in college... they just dont get it..

I totally agree. My daughter is in the Ice Shows, I don't have her compete, it's a team effort of talent coming together to make our children feel like princess for a day & helping them build their social skills. This mom's are all about their own & no one elses. We tried to come up with a way to bring up our numbers...times are tough, lets lower some expenses...it was totally "Well our club has been doing this for 36 years & it works." No it don't. We are down to 50 skaters from 180 when she first started skating 5 years ago. I can decide if it's the economy or these crazy wenches that have our numbers down. My first year on the board, & probably my last. They put me in charge of fundraising...I told them...I can not do "please help my poor spoiled daughter pay for her employed parents bills" when I work with way more less fortunate that no one wants to help support.

April,
there is a Hardee's in Michigan. Have not been there since I was pregant with my last baby. John used to get up early and drive there to get me biscuits and gravy and surprise me when I woke up! It used to be in Berkley then they moved it like 6 blocks from there. I have not been there since they moved it, oh, I remember it is in Hazel Park (on John R) and maybe one in Sterling Heights Now you have something to do this weekend... family trip to Hardee's!

One of my many jobs during highschool and college was waiting tables at Tubby's Restaurant on Telegraph in Taylor. Does anyone remember that place? The uniforms were right out of Alice and Mel's Diner, right down to the apron and little bonnet. The pay was only like $2/hr. because you were expected to make a lot in tips. That was a hideous job. One time some genius decided to mop the floor during the dinner rush and I slipped and fell and sent a whole tray full of food flying through the air. It landed on a bunch of customers - really kind of funny!

Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year!

Tara,
That is really good to know! Thank you! I loved their Ham & Cheese & Mushroom & Swiss.

Carla,
Tubby's as in the sub shop? As far as I know all Tubby's sub shops have closed.

I worked at Olive Garden for two days as a waitress. I spilled hot coffee on a woman. She was so mad. I quit the next day.

It was Tubby's the sub shop! I heard it was gone now. I never waited tables after that. It was a pretty big place and I was always the only waitress. One person can't wait on 40 tables without someone getting mad, terrible job.

Hardees was awesome and 30 seconds from my house. I was always there. I miss Little Caesar's - I know it's still around, but it's not down here. I really miss Big Boy too. And A&W.

Hi guys, Happy New Year to all!!!

There are 3 Tubby's sub shops still in existance that I know of. One at the corner of Michigan and Outer Drive in Dearborn, one on Plymouth (corrected from Ford Rd) near Farmington Rd I think and the other on Grand River in Redford. Went to the Redford one a month or so ago. I got the famous Steak and Cheese and it was so yummy!!!

I like the Hardee's at the service plaza on the east bound Ohio Turnpike on your way to Cedar Point!!!

We had a Little Ceasars open close to my house. I loved those "Hot-N-Ready" $5 pizza's. Unfortunately, not many Long Islanders agreed. It closed and now a private pizza place replaced it.

I got Romas and Mark Weatherbee in at Little Caesar's on Monroe. Kathy Webb got me in. Sweet Deal!

I miss Vernor's, Faygo, Olga's, Pizzapapolis, Dairy Queen and Xochimilco in Mexican town!!!!

I never did work at a fast food place. I did work at the Cookie Factory in Fairlane (hated sweets while working there). Then I also did a very short stint at Bonanza in Lincoln Park, & Ram's Horn in Allen Park. I prefed working at the gas station then dealing w/food.

Now my sister & step dad live in Florida & they miss A&W, & White Castle. And being here in Michigan, all I want is a Cracker Barrel a little closer then Belleville or Monroe.

Hello Debbie happy new year. And Carla, we use to have a Tubby right down the street in Lincoln Park on Fort Street. I seriously could of hit the place with a frizbee, cuz we all know I can't throw a baseball. It closed like a year ago. I love the Steak, cheese, mushroom & onion sub!

Now Dan, I honestly can not stand Pizza seeing as I gre up houses away from 3 pizza places! Now Pizzapopilous (however you spell it) rocks, that is pizza I can eat. There is one place in Lincoln Park that has good pizza, it's called Mickey's, thinner, greaser & they pile on toppings & cheese.

Wow, I completely forgot about Bonanza. Is that still around? Debbie, you're giving me flashbacks!

Hey, did anyone drink Town Club pop?

01/06/09 04:41 PM #1689

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

Town Club pop, is that where you would take your empty bottles back to that little store on Telegraph and they refill them? The bottle cap had the flavor printed on it?
We didn't have pop in the house when I was growing up but we would get it at Christmas time. I remember a crate of those bottles in the laundry room and my brothers were showing me how to choose the flavor.

Honostly, I can eat pizza any time, anywhere. Had a big meal? No problem, give me a slice. Seriously love pizza. Chicago style in Chicago is amazing.

Holly has a Wendys, McDonalds, a Dairy Queen (full size restaurant) and about 6 different places to get pizza. We have this amazing Mexican restaurant run by authentic "south of the border" folks. Very good.

We go to Fenton for all the others. Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Subway, Quiznos, Kentucky Fried Chicken, two Tim Hortons, a Starbucks etc

I noticed that the "Giant System" has a $5 special: 5 burgers, fries and a coke!

My dad bought me a hamburger when I was about 8 and told me it was the same as McDonald's...

Just add this to the list of things I will tell a therapist.

My husband grew up with "It's the same thing as ______" They always ate generic and even for a while had powdered milk which he and his sister still complain about to this day! Makes holidays so much fun.
