After graduation, I went to Germany with AFS for a year.
Attended U. Michigan and graduated in 1989 with a degree in history. I was a tour guide on the East Coast for a summer and fall. I returned to Ann Arbor and got my Masters in Information and Library Science from UM (1992). Landed in NYC and lived in Manhattan for 2+ years. Got my current job at the Colorado School of Mines in 1995.
I married Heather in 2003. We have 2 little boys. Over all, life is pretty good.
I have lived in a variety of places--Germany, Ann Arbor, Glacier Bay National Park Alaska, Sequoia National Park California, Providence Rhode Island, Vail Colorado, New York City, and finally Golden, Colorado.
Darwin Fischer remains the best teacher I have ever had. "Line up your desks!" (Actually, I had Mr. Fischer in 8th & 9th grade at Bryant).
Carol Putzig was an odd duck. "Farm'n" Joe Karmann was a good guy whose son was born on April Fools Day. Cornelius deStigter was an interesting guy "sue the bastards." Richard Waring--I still our student workers this story. Waring told us that if we said we were going Florida for Spring Break, and we didn't come back with a tan, he'd know we were in jail. Richard Welch was a fabulous chemistry teacher. Ron Webb was the bravest teacher in the city--very few teachers encourage kids to take chances AND back them up. And Mike Zinn, why the hell did you leave DHS. The best teacher they had, and he left. High School would have been fun if more teachers were like him.
I took Calc classes at UM-Dearborn my senior year. That was fun.
