I have now attained that age where it is more evident each day how my "life decisions" made along the way determined the future.

It's not unpleasant to sit in my old chair on the
creek bank by the waterfall. To reflect upon
how lucky I was to grow up in a time and place, where good and decent folks set examples, and inspired.

Mr. Ed Price, our Scoutmaster at First Methodist Church, had great influence in developing my interest in nature, and in doing for myself. The peace of living here in the Tallapoosa woods, away from the mad pace of modern culture
has proven this life decision to have been a
right one!

Roy L. Wood, our choir director at First Methodist Church, was also our choir director at DHS. Roy gave us an abiding love of music and its continuing possibilities.
Roy was most influential in my pursuing a music career. Our "old one-eyed daddy Uncle Snap" carved another step in learning to do for myself.

Regardless of where-all we have been, or whatever we have done or achieved, it has brought us to the here and now.
And, I really do like it here!

I remember the New Years Eve getogethers at Bonnie's folks place in Mooresville,. "across the river".

Bonnie.s Mom, Fannie, always had the traditional blackeyed peas, hog jowl and cornbread out on the table to celebrate the coming New Year. This was a holdover from the end of the War between the States, when there was nothing much left in the family storehouse to eat but these basic staples, since the Yankee raids took most everything else that the family had left to subsist on!.

Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it!
