Amanda Steedley

Mark and everyone else itching for pictures, I've just posted the ones I took at Riverfest on my Kodak Gallery account. I will put the country club one's up as soon as I can.

I sent Phillie the info. to send out to everyone so hopefully you guys will receive it soon. I'm sorry I've been so slow, but I've been sick since we got home last week. Hope you enjoy them.

Since our posts have slowed down considerably, I started wondering, who all is on Facebook?

Candy Verner (Bramlett)

I'm on MySpace....look me up :)

Good deal, Amanda. I look forward to seeing everything! I hope you feel better soon.

Tanya, I don't have a Facebook account, but there are a few of us here that have MySpace accounts. I've tried adding everyone from our class that has a page listed with DHS Class of '88 in their profiles. I might give Facebook a look sometime soon since it seems to be gaining momentum on the 'net. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure don't wanna go another 5-10 years not being able to keep in touch with my classmates.

Now for a touchy subject -- what did everyone think of the VP debate earlier this evening?

10/03/08 09:37 PM #1927

Tanya Williams (Spillman)

Ooooooh...not sure I want to touch that one! I don't think it really changed anyone's opinion. I feel like most people have their minds made up already and aren't going to change based on the VP debate. That being said, I thought it was more evenly matched than most were expecting.

I don't think Sarah Palin did herself any favors during her interview with Katie Couric, and when she opens her first response with a soccer reference and pretty much avoided the majority of the questions (Biden dodged his fair share as well), it just further solidified that it absolutely scares the ever-loving crap out of me to know that she could very well be President if something were to happen to McCain while in office.

And keep in mind, I've pretty much voted along the GOP party lines for as long as I've been a registered voter. I will definitely agree with you in that most people have probably already made their decisions, but I'm sure that there are still an awful lot of undecided voters that are following this presidential campaign that want one candidate or the other to reach out to them and show why he should be the President, instead of why the other guy should not be.

Regardless of which candidate is elected, history WILL be made on the federal level, and I just hope and pray that this will be something that our grandchildren and great-grandchildren can look back and see it as something as revolutionary as Women's Suffrage and The Declaration Of Independence (that's assuming that our great nation does not self-destruct before then).

I agree that there are many out there that remain undecided. However, I feel like their decisions will be made based on what happens in the presidential debates rather than the vp debates. To be perfectly honest, I'm not real comfortable with either choice. I tend to vote Republican because, as a Christian, the Republican party best reflects my views on most issues. Sarah Palin is obviously very inexperienced - however, so is Obama. My husband and I were talking tonight about how once you have children, your entire perspective changes. Suddenly, the future has a greater significance than before because it is going to directly affect your children, grandchildren, etc. I just hope that whoever is chosen to lead our great nation for the next four years is going to have a positive impact on our country. As my grandmother would say, they definitely have a "long row to hoe."

It has been my experience that this election has had a polarizing affect on society. People who could normally discuss the issues are not speaking. I do believe, that we as Americans, should remember that our choice not only effects us, but the world as well. How many world leaders can you name? It is interesting that kids from all over the world know who our President is. I also believe it is dangerous to bring religion into play. Arguments could be made that christianity is on either side. I do hope that when people vote, they are voting for the whole package and not just one policy.

It does seem to me that, in general, this election has divided people to the point that they can't/won't discuss it. I see that in my own extended family. That's the reason I feel that the VP debate didn't really change many minds. This is such a difficult time for our country and there are so many issues to consider that I pray for whoever is elected president. I wouldn't want to have that job!

Hey Carlos, you think you can send some Government funding over to my hospital so I can get a decent raise, and my retirement benefits restarted. Or maybe talk your Campaign manager into donating some of his company's meds and get us some money that way!!

10/07/08 11:24 AM #1935

Candy Verner (Bramlett)

Hal...that was hilarious! And if they're on the ballot, they'll get my vote LOL

10/07/08 01:14 PM #1936

Bubba Roby

I accept Hal's nomination. I am an excellent VP candidate because I am as much as a blowhard as Biden while remaining as confused on the issues as Palin.

10/07/08 01:32 PM #1937

Beau Jones

Carlos ought to run the government since he taught us the meaning of "government names".

10/07/08 02:06 PM #1938

Julie Stewart

Golly Gee Hal, one post and you've thrown a lil fuel on this smoldering forum. Greene/Roby 08!!

10/07/08 04:29 PM #1939

Allyson Hughes (Virden)

Gosh darnit Bubba, I think you would make an awesome VP. Golly gee, joe six pack would vote for you in a heart beat. You might have to work on your winking though. :)

10/08/08 10:16 AM #1940

Carlos Greene

I third that Hal. Bubba whats up this weekend. I plan on campaigning in Nashville Tn this weekend since Obama and McCain just left.

10/08/08 10:23 AM #1941

Carlos Greene

First presidencial appointment Hal Sander Press Secretary.

10/08/08 12:49 PM #1942

Allyson Hughes (Virden)

Carlos, I think you should make Hal your Secretary of State. All of the worlds problems would be solved with a little humor.

Darn it, I should've stopped in Nashville earlier long enough to pick up a few campaign stickers and buttons for the Greene/Roby ticket. Might I suggest Mark Moebes or Chris Henderson for Secretary Of Defense?! Maybe we can get either Melanie Looney or Michelle Decelles in on this somehow since they're both already rooted well inside Washington. Treasury Secretary has to be Angie Arndt. I was thinking maybe either Dawn Campbell or Lori Bailey for Attorney General and Philomena Compton possibly for Secretary Of Education. This campaign has legs, folks -- RUN WITH IT!!!!!

10/08/08 08:49 PM #1944

Candy Verner (Bramlett)

I nominate Beau for foreign relations... he did take 3 yrs of Spanish. I think Joe Richardson took 4 yrs, but do we even know where he is?

10/08/08 09:50 PM #1945

Julie Stewart

so, If elected, can we change the plans for a 25th and make it a 24th instead and have it at the White House??

10/09/08 12:37 PM #1946
