Sad to learn of Chip's passing. Thanks to Jay Judson for his thoughtful post in the spring issue of Deerfield. If anyone has his obituary, please let me know.
So sad to hear this, not sure how I missed it. Chip was one of the best. I was driving through Rochester a couple of weeks ago and thought fondly of him, wondering how he was. I traveled back in my mind to June of 1965 when Peter Russell and I were driving to California. We stopped for a couple of days with Chip and stayed in his father's hunting lodge outside of Rochester. When driving back into the city with Chip in the back seat of my new Mustang along with a couple of cases of Genesee, I was spotted going close to 120 mph through a small village. It took some time before the cop caught up to us. I'd probably still be in jail if not for the fact that he recognized Chip and I received a stern reprimand and the kind recommendation that I better slow down. It helps to know the right people sometimes. Chip was always the right guy, whether it was listening to the Beatles on his reel-to-reel upstairs in Pocumtuck or running on the lacrosse field with him on a midfield trio. He'll always occupy a special place in my heart.
