Lois Farris (Little)
I just discovered this forum as well (Larry). I thought I had been keeping up with the site, but wow, I think this is the first time since we moved to Indiana (2.5 yrs.) I feel like I "know nutting." about what is going on. Glancing over the messages in this forum, it looks like so few people are taking part. I truly enjoy hearing from and reading about old classmates and what is going on in their lives. I truly do NOT like reunions, as I don't like to be where lots of people are talking all at once (undiagnosed AD?) but I did say I would attend the 60th.
An update on me for anyone who might care: We moved to Terre Haute, Indiana 2.5 yrs. ago on Memorial Day weekend. Our youngest daughter lives here, and she is a single Mom with three young girls. We were retired and saw no reason not to move near her so we could help with child care when she found a job. We gave up a house we had just spent 10 yrs. remodeling and bought another that needs all kinds of work, which we have started. I hope it does not take 10 years to get this one in shape.
Although Jim and both officially retired, we really haven't. Jim, being younger than me, still wants to work a few moe years, and I, although not "working," do care for my granddaughters 3 a.m.s before school and 4 p.m.s after school. We also have a big garden and can/freeze many things to fill our pantry for the next year. We have 28 chickens, one spastic dog and one old cat. We live on .97 acre which we have dubbed "Little Acre." We both love the country life but will probably eventually move back closer to our roots, perhaps the Hicksville area. I have stipulated that the next place we buy will be completely finished, new or near new and need nothing done to it for as long as we live!!!
Earlier this year I filled in at a local law firm a couple different times; just enough to let me know that I am glad I am retired and that I don't want to do it again. It was like starting all over in a new job. I'll take my jeans and the chicken coop any day!!
I am sad for Jackie Stone and I, too, pray for her complete healing. I was saddened to hear of Joanie's passing as well. We are all on that downslope now, no matter whether we want to be or not. As I learn of serious illnesses and deaths of people my age, I am very thankful for my health, all the while knowing it could be snatched away in a second. I cannot end this without saying that I am a believer in eternal life for those who profess Christ as their Savior, and if you reading this are not, I sincerely hope you will give it a great deal of thought. Like Joanie and others of our age who died earlier, we too will die, and we will live again; where will be determine by the decisions we make now.
Didn't mean to write a book. Have a great day! Smile at someone you don't know! Thank a Veteran! Compliment your spouse or significant other! Call your Mom or Dad if you are fortunate to still have them! Be kind to a crabby clerk or waitress!
