After graduation I stayed in Defiance for a year working at the Chief. The following summer I joined the Navy with Colin Hahn, Henry Scheele, Lamont Hill, and Eric Buhrer. Went to San Diego for a year and then 3 years in DC. I met my wife there, even though we both went to DHS, we never met until DC and we married in 1964. We moved back to Defiance in 1965 until I took a job with Nationwide Insurance in 1969. Worked for them for 10 years and moved back to Defiance to work for Dietrick, Horman and Galliers. In 1981 we moved to San Jose, CA where I worked in insurance for another 2 years and then got into Telecommunications which became my career for 20 years. In 2000 I was laid off and applied for work at Fujitsu. They needed people in San Jose and in Phoenix, AZ so we decided to take the job in Phoenix, AZ where we live now.

I spent a total of 15 years in the insurance business and 20 years in telecommunications which was a good ride until 2000 when the company (Fujitsu) I was working for decided to close the company. At that time I became a manufacturers representative until I retired in January 2008.

My wife Sandy is still working but should retire real soon. She did retire in 2012 and we moved to Oregon.

Hi Ken, Just to bring you up to date: I had prostate cancer a few years ago as you know. Since turning 80 I have had my gallbladder removed, which required 8 days in hospital and they found out I had colon cancer and they removed a tumor which only required 3 days in hospital. BTW I was never in a hospital until I reached 80. According to recent scans I am cancer free which they will check each year if not sooner. My sense of humor shows up when I say "I used to be a Chick Magnet and now I'm a Cancer Magnet.
