Timothy Lee Baden, 59, Defiance, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at his home in Defiance surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with leukemia.
He was born on July 7, 1947, in Defiance, the son of Fred and Hazel (Fair) Baden, the second of five brothers Bob, Chuck, Jerry and Rick. He graduated from Defiance High School in 1965. After marrying Janice Hall in June of 1967, he joined the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam in 1968 where he worked in a land clearing operation for the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart for being injured.
He and Janice had two children Amy Denise in 1972 and Cory Lee in 1973. Tim established Timcor Inc. in 1979 which still performs iron reclamation work for General Motors, Defiance.
In 1999, he married Jill (Burger) Switzer and became a stepfather to Ben and Cole Switzer. It was at this time that he became a member of the Elks, Eagles, AMVETS and VFW. He found spiritual fulfillment through his attendance at St. Pauls United Methodist Church and St. Marys Catholic Church for many years.
After his diagnosis in early 2000, he underwent numerous treatments and due to his great strength and faith, was able to keep his disease at bay for several years, surpassing the expectations of even the best doctors in the country. He was a fighter to the end and will always remain strong and immortal to those that love him most.
Surviving are wife, Jill, of Defiance; son, Cory (Julie) Baden of Defiance; daughter, Amy (Ed) Guza of Bozeman, Montana; stepson, Ben (Alesha) Switzer; stepson, Cole Switzer; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katie and Victoria Baden, Olivia and Grace Guza; stepgrandchildren, Payton and Masen Switzer; brothers, Robert (Diane) Baden of Canton, Mich., Charles (Terre) Baden of Defiance, Jerry Baden of Defiance and Richard (Robin) Baden of Defiance; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Fredrick Baden and Hazel (Fair) Baden.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Defiance with Pastor Todd Anderson and Father Tim Kummerer officiating, with viewing from 10-11a.m. Visitation will also be from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mast- Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3360.
Preferred memorials are to St. Pauls United Methodist Church Food Bank, St. Marys Catholic Church Food Bank, St. Johns Lutheran Church Food Bank or to a charity of the donors choice.

Timothy Baden Services for Timothy L. Baden were held Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, in St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd Anderson and Father Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Music was by Francisco Lloveras and Heather Krajcarski-Hunt. Pallbearers were Chris, Damien and Justin Baden, Jim and Brian Boehm and Tim Memmer. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
