My Bio:
Cory A. Godwin resides in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with his wife Tammy and children Callie and Cory Jr. He is the Chief Deputy Tax Collector for Walton County, where he provides the daily management off all operations of the office including the collection and distribution of taxes, fees and licenses totaling over $160 million in revenues.
Prior to his appointment to the Tax Collector's Office in 2005, Cory served as the Assistant Warden of Walton Correctional Institution, an adult male state correctional facility housing over 1,500 convicted felons. During his 17.5 years service with the Department of Corrections, which began as a correctional officer, Cory also served as the agencies gang intelligence coordinator, becoming a court certified expert on street and prison gangs. He is a published author and has written many professional articles on the subject of gangs. He has also presented hundreds of presentations at of law enforcement seminars, conferences and community events.

Cory Godwin's public service has been and recognized by the Florida Department of Correction with many accommodations, including Employee of the Year, Inspector of the Year, and Correctional Officer of the Year. Work teams under his supervision have received of two Davis Productivity Awards, and in 2005 the Walton County Tax Collector's Office was recognized as the Workplace Excellence Award winner by the combined Okaloosa and Walton County Economic Development Councils.
Cory Godwin is a Certified Public Manager through the Florida State University Center for Public Management and is a Certified Florida Collector Assistant.
