March 14, 2020 Class Spring Luncheon

March 14, 2020 the annual luncheon of the Class of ’56 was held at Sparrow’s Grille at the Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand.  Those attending were Bill & Jean Johnson, Frank & Sally Rodes Ford, Danny & Gail Warrensford, Joan Richardson Aldous, Phyliss Latchaw Marshall, Herb & Carol McRae, Ken & Betty Shawhan Burgess, Nancy Talton Hobbs & Al, Bill Lindsey & son Pat. 

Ann Taylor Moore was in quarantine as a high-risk carrier of the COVID-19 Virus since she returned from Switzerland on March 12.  Danny gave out awards with Frank & Sally winning the most – Married Longest, 63 years; Most Grandkids, 7; and Most Great-Grands, 7 and one more on the way.  Betty Shawhan Burgess was recognized as Most Senior and Herb McRae Traveled the Furthest – 5 hours each way from Tallahassee.

The group sang Happy Birthday to Joan Richardson Aldous since she will be celebrating the end of March. 

10 Thinking of You cards were sent.  Margilyn Aldred Poe, Jim Armstrong, Billie Belue Gray, Mary Sara Carter Moreau, Carol Clay LaPides, Connie Cook Jordan, Shirley Hodges Whitaker, Mary Jane Mott Hurley, Suzanne Neider Connery, Vera Mae Owens Flowers were the recipients.

In 2021 we will celebrate 65 years since graduating from DeLand High School.  The opportunity to celebrate at Homecoming is yet unknown as the dates for Homecoming will not be set until December 2020.
