Lyndsay and I started home schooling in the early 1980s and got involved in the political and legal efforts to defend home schoolers from state prosecution. I had a lighting company for about 15 years and eventually moved from that to became the President of an advocacy group called the Texas Home School Coalition (THSC) in 1990. THSC has grown into the largest such state advocacy group in the country with a mailing list of almost 70,000 families in Texas. We spend most of our time helping families with problems with officials and working in the political and legislative arenas to protect and expand the freedom for parents to home school in Texas.
