Comments:

After college-Texas Tech(guns-up you Red Raiders) my husband Stan & I moved to Plains where he is a 5th generation agri-business man. Our sons were raised on a farm west of Plains, near the State Line of New Mexico. Both of our sons graduated from Texas Tech. We farm about 6000 acres of corn, cotton, peanuts and maize.

School Story:

Who would have thought 40 years could pass so fast? We grew up in a magicial time--meaning we were free to roam safe streets, knew all our classmates, and had teachers who knew even if we were a little mischievous, we were good kids.
Denver City was a little diamond in the rough that has produced lots of hard working, fine Christian sons and daughters. We were blessed with good parents and an abundant school system that sent the class of '69 out into the four corners of the world to pursue our dreams.
Some of my most favorite memories include 6 girls (much smaller then, I'm sure) packing everyday into Sally's little green VW for lunch. Does anybody remember cops and robbers? What would happen today if you had about 100 kids in cars and on foot, running from Dairy Mart #2 to the bowling alley? Can you just imagine? Organized chaos.
The Mighty Mustangs played their hearts out on the field, but the girls & guys in the band and the pep squad did their part too. How about those chicks in red blazers and skirts yelling their heads off? We thought we were hot.
Lee Shaw is destined for sainthood, I'm sure. All those volleyball trips. The ride home was the most fun with upper classmen in the back of the bus with the radio(KOMA) maxed out. We always changed the words to the songs--sometimes not for the better. I keep wondering where all the bus driver's cigarettes disappeared to?
Do you remember what a large part of our social life the Rhea Theater and Mustang Drive-In theater played?
Remember strolling the halls before classes began in the mornings? Then at night we cruised the drag from dairy mart #2 to the broadway shopping center on .39 a gallon gas. We had the world by the tail and didn't even know it.
Some of my most favorite memories include one of my best friends, Debra Moorhead. Debra has been in her heavenly home for 10 years now. I think of her and some of the crazy things we did every day. She touched everyone in our class in some way or another, as did Gay Trout, Tommy Ellison and Bill Knox.
I will always have a fondness in my heart for Big Red and DCHS, that we all were so much a part of.
