I could not wait to get away from Denver City. I had a job waiting for me in Dallas before school was even out. I worked for a Volkswagon dealer and was sent to factory training. If there was an automotive class anywhere, I have had it.I became an Automotive Specialist and taught a few.
I met my wife, Caroline, in Oct. 1972 on a Church trip to Oklahoma. She had recently moved from Temple TX. Our marriage was and still is the BEST thing that ever happened to me.Our Love has grown into the strongest force I could ever share.
I learned just how crooked the auto business was and walked away one day and started attending welding classes. After getting certified, I started training in an apprentice program to be an electrician.
Our son Dan was born Nov. 9th, 1975. Then a few years later on June 22, 1979, I fell 45ft. on a construction site. After 5 years of surgeries, rehab, and schooling I went to work for the Dallas Independent School District. I felt I had walked a mile in their shoes and had a great deal to offer the special needs children. I drove an AM and a PM bus route for well over 20 years. I retired in Aug. 2005 after being paid to leave the district with enough funds to get my knee replaced. After early retirement, we sold our house and moved to Comanche TX. in May, 2006. A small town life was what we needed all along. We own on a ranch of about 250 acres. I also own Round Mountain in Comanche County, a historical landmark. I have been placed on the board of the Comanche County Museum, and enjoy looking up family trees.
I have been active in two car clubs, one national and one local. It's hard to stop a hobby completely.
