Dear Classmates and Dan Wiske (husband to Gloria):
Like most of you who remember Gloria, I was very saddened to hear of her passing some two days ago. In my life experience, there are "special people" who I remember who I have found to be a highlight in my life. Gloria was certainly one of those. In my long ago but noteworthy contact with her, she was a very intelligent and articulate person, who took her time to share not only her knowledge of physical science, but was a profound motivation to me to learn. I will miss her presence on this earth, I shall always be greatful for being one of her students !
I was so disappointed to hear about Gloria’s passing (Sister Mary Gloria to me). I had heard that she had cancer and was under the impression that she had already passed on. I wish that I had known this at the time of the reunion because I would have really like to have apologized to her for being such an obnoxious and unappreciative adolescent anal orifice.
With her passing, a quote from Alarie Tennille comes to mind. No time on earth is long enough to share with those we love or to prepare our hearts for that last good-bye.
She too made the world a better place – just by being in it – and trying to fix it, one project (or one pupil) at a time. From one of her most obnoxious, and deeply appreciative pupils. John Joseph Hinterreiter
Gloria Cordova was an inspiration to me, and I am sure to many others. She had high expectations for herself and those whom she taught. When I began my own teaching career, Gloria was one of my teachers whose devotion and interaction with her students was a model for me as to the kind of teacher I wanted to be.
Through odd circumstances, I was reconnected with Gloria about twenty years ago. Since then we had exchanged Christmas cards and notes. I am so happy that I was able to tell her what an influence she had on my life--an opporturnity that does not come arond too often.
On one occasion I met Goria's husband Dan. Together they lit up a room. I am sure she is now lighting up heaven.
I have many fond memories of Sister Gloria. She was a great inspirtation to me. After many hours of talking about religious life, she was very instrumental in my final decision to enter the convent following graduation!:) Sr. Gloria and I stayed in touch throughout the years. She always had wonderful positive thoughts/words of wisdom to share especially during the time I was struggling with the decision to leave religious life.
We stayed in touch with our annual Christmas cards/letters!:) I know that come December 25, 2016, I will miss hearing from her. May Jesus wrap His strong arms around Dan and all family members. Please help them get through the coming days/weeks and months one second, one minute or one hour at a time!:)
