DeHeck, Richard Louis

Richard Louis DeHeck, of Montgomery, AL, entered into heaven peacefully October 24, surrounded by his family at his home. Richard leaves behind his beloved wife Phyllis of 51 years, his sons Douglas and Michael. Richard is survived by his only sister Mary Laughlin of Houston, TX and his 4 grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Hayden and Ryan.

Richard grew up in Des Moines, IA with his mother Catherine and older siblings James and Mary. After graduating from Dowling High school in 1961 as a three sport athlete, he then attended Morningside College on a football scholarship, and played 2 years semi-pro football for the Des Moines Warriors. After marrying Phyllis in 1966, they relocated to Montgomery in 1967. Richard's successful business career spanned 25 years including stops in Birmingham, Seattle, and Chicago becoming Region Sales Manager. Richard and Phyllis then relocated back to Montgomery in 1992 to start the last phase of their life. Richard was an avid golfer that enjoyed the camaraderie and competition the sport provided, routinely shooting his age and winning multiple tournaments. In his retirement Richard continued to work at Lagoon Park and Tallapoosa Lakes golf course. His gregarious personality will be missed by all who knew him. His family and friends were always what was most important to him. You will never be forgotten.Hit em straight dad!
