Susan was born June 27, 1941 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Harold and Agnes Markley. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1959 and later earned her Bachelor's degree from Drake University in 1965. During college, she was introduced on a blind date to James Donald Mount, and they were married on August 8, 1964. Shortly after their marriage, James' career lead them to various states. During their time moving across the country, their children, Jeff and Teresa, were born. Throughout her life time she worked as a social worker and a stay-at-home mother, but her favorite job was working in fabric stores. In 2006, they returned to Des Moines to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Susan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always looked forward to visiting with family. She especially enjoyed any opportunity to sew or travel with friends and family. Some of her favorite travel destinations were Yosemite, Napa Valley, New Orleans and anywhere a cruise ship could take her.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert. She is survived by her husband, James; her children, Jeffrey David Mount (Janine) of Des Moines and Teresa Ann Hull (Bradley) of Des Moines; and her grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, Rachel, Alex, Alyssa and Derek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Ronnie Mayrose (Wardell)
Jim, Our condolences to you and your family. We had such a nice visit with Sue at the last reunion we attended, discussing all the different places you had lived for your job. You both seemed happy to be back in Iowa with family for your retirement years. I'm glad she was able to enjoy your children and grandchildren during her last years.
Sincerely, Dave and Ronnie Wardell (Veronica Mayrose in another life) of Sun Lakes, AZ
