Sister Mary Alphonse, B. V. M., formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died of Hodgkin's disease early Tuesday in Xavier Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.  She had been ill foir 5 1/2 years

     Sister Mary Alphonse, 23, was born in Des Moines and was a graduate in 1959 from St. Joseph Academy here before joining the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  She had been stationed in Dubuque at Mount Carmel, the motherhouse of the order.

     Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Carmel Chapel.  Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

     Surviving are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Bisignano of Des Moines; a sister, Sister John Catherine, O.P. of Adrian, Michigan and three brothers, Joseph of Des Moines, James of Royal Oak, Minn. and John, a student at Denver Universitsy.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Joseph Academy building fund
