It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas Joseph Devereux, 74, announces his passing Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Judy (Martin) Devereux; three daughters, Chantel (Don) Garcy of Odessa, FL; Alison (Jim) Naumann of Phoenix, AZ; Natalie (Justin) Heidenreich of Olathe, KS; five grandchildren Madeleine and JT Naumann, Georgia Heidenreich and Jack and Brett Garcy; his sisters Margaret Gronstal, Barbara (Bill) Shain and Rose (Tim) Eagan.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Ann; sisters Sister Sheila Devereux RSM, Miriam Jelinek and Madelyn Stover; brother Jim Devereux.

Born and raised in Des Moines, IA, a son of Bernard and Ann (Lalley). He was the youngest of eight. Tom graduated from Dowling High School Class of 1963. He had a brief stint in the US Air Force. Upon returning home, he reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Judy Martin. They married in 1966.

He began his career in the grocery /brokerage industry soon after. After three daughters and several moves, they settled in Omaha, NE in 1975 where he began his career with Mueller-Yurgae Associates. Retiring after 35 years, Tom and Judy relocated to Surprise, AZ.

Tom had a passion for volunteerism committing his time to Boys Town, the Epilepsy Foundation and St. Vincent De Paul Society. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of Skyline Woods and Shadow Ridge Country Clubs in Omaha and Copper Canyon in Buckeye.

A visitation will be held Sunday, November 24th from 5 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary following from 7-7:30 PM at Dignity Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 Bell Road. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 25th at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 17111 W Bell Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Boys Town, St. Clare Assisi Building Fund or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
