Lawrence A. Enos

Lawrence A. Enos, 62, had his final curtain call Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at his home. A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Larry was born March 3, 1945 in Des Moines to Lawrence and Betty Enos. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1963. He served in the US Navy on the USS Shenandoah (AD26). He married Mary Dickenson on April 23, 1965. Larry worked at John Deere and Company for over 30 years. After his retirement he worked as a security guard at Prairie Meadows and then worked for the United States Postal Service.

Larry was a Former Chairman of the Parish Council of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. For ten years he and his wife, Mary hosted the Down Home Country Dance Jam and the Hawkeye Jamboree. He also was a former member of the PMECI. In his spare time he was an avid reader and loved military history in particular. He loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful story teller and his stories were always larger than life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his sons, Lawrence Jr., Michael D. all of Des Moines, and Charles K. and his wife Lynette of Grimes; his grandchildren, Chloe, Alexander, Isaac and Kaylyn. Memorial contributions may be made to his family in loving memory of Larry.
