William J. “Bill” Marchino, 65, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on March 29, 1945 in Des Moines, the son of William & Beverly (Mayer) Marchino. Bill was raised in Des Moines and graduated from the Dowling High School. Following high school Bill served his country in the US Air Force in Waverly, Iowa. After serving in the military Bill started working in the trucking industry. He continued to work in the industry for the rest of his career and selling mud flaps was his passion. This passion culminated with Byland Marketing Corporation being born, which Bill started from scratch.  

Bill always had a special camaraderie with everyone that he came in contact with. His fun loving attitude was contagious and he could always make anyone in the room smile and laugh. Bill enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially his four grandchildren. Bill loved watching all sports, but baseball, bowling, golf and football were his favorites.

He is survived by his mother:  Beverly of Windsor Heights, three sons: Jeff (Cathy) and their children, Reed, Trey & Paige of McKinney, TX; Chad (Stacey) and their daughter, Avery, of Yukon, OK; and William, Jr. of Des Moines; a sister: Ann (J.R.) Hall; four brothers: John, Steve, Dave & Jim and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50310 (515-278-4633). A memorial fund has been established.
