George Pudans

George Pudans, age 71, of Winnsboro, SC, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born in Grevin, West Germany, George was a son of the late Antone and Veronika (Apalis) Pudans.

George is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maureen (Flannery) Pudans; three daughters, Melissa M. Koch, Angela M. Porth and Katrina M. Dove; four brothers, John, Robert, Richard and Peter Pudans; one sister, Anna Pudans; five grandchildren, Arianna M. McKnight, Ryan R. Stanley, Sophia E. Porth, Sebastian E. Dove and Olivia M. Dove; and two great-grandchildren, Brynn N. McKnight and Grady R. McKnight.

A Vietnam Veteran, George dedicated his career to being a retail manager and spent the last twenty years at Rose's in Camden after over twenty years managing TG&Y/McCrory's in Winnsboro. He was well known in Fairfield and Kershaw County by the many customers he helped throughout the years. An avid NASCAR and Carolina Panthers fan, George even managed to end his courageous fight with cancer by a photo finish with significance to his favorite driver of Number 24 and a nod to his five siblings.

Always a dedicated family man, George was the example of honor, strength, integrity and faith and will be missed by them, and especially by his self-termed "perfect choice" and soul mate of over forty years. His family gives thanks that his battle with cancer was short, granting him eternal peace.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church conducted by Father Bob Higgins.
