Thomas, 65, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2010 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.  Tom was born on July 8, 1945 in Evansville, IN.  His life included many great friends that he met along the way.  He graduated from Dowling High School in 1963.  Following that he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in England.  He was employed by the Des Moines Police Department, then began working for the State of Iowa, which he retired from in 2008.

Tom was always an avid gardener.  His other hobbies included playing softball for the State Employee League, woodworking, reading, collecting antiques, and spending time with friends and family.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth; his mother, Ethel Seib; siblings, Norman (Joanie) Seib, Margaret (Phil) Carpenter, and Jeannie Seib; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Seib and his sister, Mary Lee Kinney.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale.  A visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 19 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.  A celebration of life will follow the interment.
