Formally, Ed served as an Associate Regional Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA. He was the second African-American to hold this position nationally. In addition, Ed served as chaplain for the University of Miami Hurricanes Football Team, Miami Dolphins, and Miami Heat.
In 1995, New Man Magazine named him one of the "Top Five Young Christian Leaders" in America. He has served on numerous local boards, including Young Life and M.A.P. (Male Advocacy Program) and volunteers with various organizations. He was named to the Central College Board of Trustees in 1999. At age 29, he was the youngest member ever appointed to the Board of Trustees.
After a successful career with InterVarsity, Mr. Ollie was accepted into the National Urban Fellows Program, www.nuf.org. National Urban Fellows is a leadership development organization founded to counter the under-representation of people of color and women in leadership positions. NUF identifies, recruits, and develops the best and brightest multiethnic, multicultural mid-career women and men, who have the potential to make a significant impact in identifying issues, shaping solutions and developing policies. Mr. Ollie graduated with honors and worked with County Executive Ron Sims of Seattle, Washington, focusing on issues of health equity, transportation, and renewable energy initiatives. In addition, Mr. Ollie was a speech writer for Mr. Sims and participated in numerous civic activities for the Executive.
Today, Mr. Ollie serves as the Director of Development for the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan. His primary territory is the Northeast Region, specifically targeting New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. His primary duties are to assist the Dean in obtaining and cultivating alumni and corporate major gifts from $100K to $100 million dollars.
I wouldn't know where to begin reflecting on my time at North High. It was a wonderful four years of self discovery and growth. Our class was full of fascinating people, many of whom I still remember today. I hope to make it back to our reunion, as I haven't seen the majority of the class since 1989.
