Jim Davis
James (Jim) Leonard Davis passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, August 14th, 2022. He was 72. Jim was born in Decatur, Illinois August 28, 1949. He was the first child of Connie and Keith Davis. His family relocated to Des Moines, Iowa in 1963. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1967 and decades later would still recall with pride his years there playing football and the time spent with close friends, Joe W, Joe P. and Arnie R. He enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served proudly until his honorable discharge in 1971. He returned to Des Moines to start a long and successful professional life as an Account Executive and Sales Rep for Wrigley, RJ Reynolds and Napa Auto. His genuine interest in helping others along with an indescribable sense of humor led him to many great friendships and business relationships. He enjoyed an innate ability to find a shorter distance between 2 points than the obvious straight line and found great pleasure during his retirement years working on his own projects as well as those of others. Although he was at home camping, fishing and canoeing in and around the lakes and rivers of Iowa, he would eventually answer the calls of the warmer climates and fall in love with the area and people of Nashville. It was the small community of Kingston Springs where Jim would meet his life partner Renee Housley. With Renee by his side, he would enjoy a new life filled with time at home poolside, countless hours watching old westerns on tv and the sun and sand of Florida beaches. He is survived by Renee and her family who loved and cared for Jim during the final battle of his life. His Iowa and Illinois family will be forever grateful for the love and care of Renee, Samantha and Will which allowed Jim to pass peacefully at home. Jim is also survived by his mother, Connie Ahrens; sisters and brothers, Judy, Dan, Rick, Mary; Aunt & Uncle, Mary Bauer, Bernie Rennier. Also surviving; Jeff, Julie, Shelly, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Keith Davis. Cremation service conducted by Compassion Cremations in Nashville, TN and his ashes will be placed at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.
