Had a lot of fun with Dave our senior year...after school hours. I remember graduation and for some reason, Dave was not there. Dang....I wondered if he flunked a class last sememster and couldn't graduate and he didn't tell me. I asked all of our friends if they knew what happened and no one knew. Years went by and I was unsuccessful in finding his whereabouts. Finally, I discovered his brother was on the WDM police force. Bingo. Great conversation with his brother, Tom, who was a freshman our senior year. Got his number and gave him a call a couple of years ago. Great conversation catching up. So I asked him what happened at graduation. And he told me that he and his dad had an argument and his dad told him, my house...my rules. So Dave said, fine....he went to his room, packed a bag and left, headed to Wisconsin. Eventually he went to the University of Wisconsin and rec'd a degree in engineering. Eventually moving more to a more rural area which suited him better, especially for his love of hunting and fishing. At any rate, it was fun to talk to him again. I just wish I had made a trip to Wisconsin before his passing. I would have loved to go fishing with him. And maybe have a beer or three. RIP old buddy.

I do not remember David well but his example of living well and honoring his family says so much about his life after Dowling. RIP David!
