I earned my Social Work BA at UNI and my MSW at the U of I School of Social Work. As a Social Worker, I've worked at Broadlawns Medical Center, Polk County Victim Services, Children and Families Family Violence Center, and the Iowa Attorney General's Crime Victim Assistance Division. I was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2012, 2016, and 2018. I am a Democrat and find being a Representative one of the best ways to practice Social Work.

I met Bob (Bram) Brammer, the love of my life and my best friend, in 1989, in the Attorney General's Office. Bram and I married in 1993, with his children Gabe, then 13, and Alissa, then 9.
