George Brower

George Brower

No more smoky burnouts in his '57 Chevy in the school parking lot. Our full-of-life classmate George Brower passed away from pancreatic cancer on October 26th, 2016. Burial services were held November 17th at Tahoma National Cemetary. George served in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.

His daughter, Robin Brower-McBride, held a celebration of life Thursday, November 17th at the Green River Eagles in Black Diamond WA. In attendance were Leslie Harris Walters, Jayne Salvatore Schlosser, Jim Arkills, Tom Hennen, and Jim Cissell.

George Brower and I spent a lot of time doing things together during our junior and senior year. We went our separate ways after high school and over the years I did a few Internet searches trying to find his phone number. After almost 50 years I finally found a number that worked and was able to talk with George at length a few months before meeting at our 50 year class reunion.

I remember water skiing behind his boat, dressed in a tuxedo after a friends wedding. Less that sober, I surprised everyone by only getting wet from the knees down. Yes, 50 years distance but the fond memories remain. RIP my friend.

It  should be noted that Gordo probably never even felt being wet from the knees down due to the nerve damage from all the hurdles he knocked over or destroyed at Olympic Junior High School.
