Information found in the 20 year reunion booklet indicates that Dave was married and had two children at that time. He had received a BA at Eastern Washington University and did Masters Work at Western Washington University. His adventures included lots of things that "cost money" and were "exciting!"

Dave first got throat cancer when he was about 50. Everybody fiqures it was from agent orange exposure in Viet Nam. He got a fairly good settlement from the VA, beat the cancer for a while and had a really good run for about a decade. Then it crept up on him again. I saw him just before he died in Carlsbad, CA, hanging out at Bruce Holmstrom's vacation house. He'd had part of his throat taken out and could talk with a little machine. In spite of all his troubles he was "looking good", had his business "Squared Away", and had a great attitude, ready to fight to the end. His wife Sara broke her ass taking care of him sometimes. (She still lives in their house on Whidbey.)
Dave was one of my heros. The original "Fonze" before that TV show came out. God Bless the wild ones.

Dave was a really sweet person, who helped me acclimate when I moved from the "city" to suburban living during my 8th grade year. He loved to dance, and during our 9th grade year he would invite friends to his house to "party". I am really truely sad to hear of this death.

Dave loved to sail too. John and I were crewing on some races with Sara and Dave in
Puerto Vallarta, Mex. a couple of years. Always a good time!

Dave was a "cool dude": never too excited, always cool, always well dressed, clean car, calm and confident,( even in Jr. Hi) He studied Marshal Arts before it was very popular & never backed down from a fight.(Who would want to fight him anyway?) He was a good friend and told me I had hurt his feelings when I left fo college w/o saying goodbye. Nice guy. I own a faded and short film clip,now on DVD, of Dave, Bob Stublefield, and Calvin Allison at the Community Beach, Summer of '61. Great memories of a great guy.
