I started work for Bell Aerosystems (July 1967) as an Engineering Analyst. I was a computer programmer responsible for development and support of various heat transfer analyses and other engineering simulation programs. Projects included the heat analysis of the Lunar Excursion Module assent engine and a variety of other rocket engines and a futuristic hypersonic aircraft.
After two years at Bell Aerosystems, I worked for General Motors the next 15 1/2 years at the GM Technical Center in Warren, MI in several capacities leading up to a supervisory position. I was a member of a team responsible for development and implementation of numerous computer programs for body surfacing design in GM's Computer Aided Design and Numerical Control Effort (CADANCE) system (the original production CAD/CAM system in the world, later to become known as GM’s Corporate Graphics System - CGS).
I transitioned Electronic Data Systems (EDS), there in January 1985. As a manager, I lead a team to with the responsibility of converting over 15,000 programs from GM's mainframe to various UNIX workstations. The success of this project enabled the GM designers around the world to move away from the mainframe computers. These designers did exterior and interior sheet metal design, instrument panel, grill and bumper, and head lamp design. I moved to a team supporting GM's Global Infrastructure.
The last four years I lead a team supporting Chrysler's web site security.
First day of retirement, from EDS, December 1, 2007
