I have to add to this. I remember Shalonda very well..She was so soft spoken and very nice...I was always so jealous of how that girl could dress she could work some clothes now...Beautiful girl..

Honoring YOUR memory

So many emotions are whispered
So much remain unsaid
As if a question without resolve
-your story, not fully read-

An empty seat honors you
An 88 tassel blows in the wind
And even though the rhythm changed
Your song will never end

Still the memories flood our hearts,
-the laughter overtime heals our pain,
Those moments-those things you shared
~become sunshine despite the rain&

We call those your beautiful surprise
-a simple tune and we think of you
We learned whether we laugh or cry-
You are forever RED, WHITE & BLUE

Embrace those captured moments
Generals, to those thoughts, lets always give
If a dream was shared (by them) with you
Then that dream should forever live.

Shalonda and I were so excited because we both had gotten accepted to Howard Univ. in '88 - so we were both in D.C. I remember thinking that maybe we would become close since we were in D.C. together, but we never connected with each other up there for some reason. I don't know why. D.C. was so crazy and for some reason, we didn't stay in touch with each other.

After I'd heard what happened to her, I remember feeling so sad and wishing we had gotten closer or that we'd spent more time together in D.C. I wondered if, had we been closer friends, I could have been there for her during whatever she was going through. I still think of Shalonda every now and then and feel sadness. I hope she will be with us in spirit at our reunion.

When do you start counting girlfriends? If 4th grade counts then Shalonda Moon was my first girlfriend. Or should I say the first girl that was brave enough to call me her boyfriend (smile). We were on and off until we got to Jr. High (that sounds crazy I know) but we remained friends. What I remember most about her was her soft-spoken nature that could lead those who didn't know her to think that she was naive or aloof. The Shalonda I knew was neither. Fun-loving. Beautiful smile. Great friend. Your spirit is truly missed. Rest in peace friend.

When I was in college in Richmond, Shalonda had transferred to VCU and we started hanging out. We had some of the best times at Ivory's (who remembers that club!!) and eating... Shalonda could cook! I am so grateful that I got to really know and love her during that time. I miss her every day.

I will always remember Ms. Moon being quiet but very high strung when it came to cheerleading. She made me step my game up. She gave my boy,{Kevin Bell} the sister that he never had.
