depends from day to day...right now, 12

Comments:

Man, 20 yrs, where'd they go? 20 yrs, I dunno..o, that's a Bob Seger song, sorry...whelp, graduated with you folks, went on into the VA Army National Guard; spent 4 months at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO (and people around here think Dinwiddie's messed up); came away from that as a Technical Drafting Specialist and put some of Uncle Sam's money into John Tyler Community College to learn I didn't want to be an Architectural Engineer; also learned from 63 days in the desert I didn't want to be one of Uncle Sam's homie's either ("You mean I have to dig a hole to #@$! in the sand? but cats don't even do that! And there's scorpions out here!!")..which led me to Food Lion Distribution with half of the fella's from DCHS (Mark Wilson has a story about me and an order for one of the stores), then to Chaparral Steel where a good friend passed away, a term at Boehringer Ingleheim Chemicals, Sonoco Products (paper mills are some nasty places) and now Hercules, or Aqualon, soon to be called Ashland, the folks who make Valvoline motor oil...we make products used in everything from paint to shampoo, binders for pharmacutical products, and preservatives like cellulose gum. I have also been running my own fishing tackle business for the past 11 years, Mr. Sooperbass Tackle Co., out of my home servicing up to 30 stores at one point all over VA, NC, and MD to finance my tournament career with the VA B.A.S.S. Federation (wish gas was still 97 cents a gallon). Made the state team in 2003 and went to VT for 2 weeks fishing Lake Champlain then again in 2007 and spent 2 weeks in Pittsburgh, PA on the Three Rivers, both times missing the cut for the national circuit by finishing 2nd and 3rd out of 12 guys...tournament fishing's been pretty good to me though and something my 14 yr old son has taken to as well...maybe one day we'll both be on ESPN, lol. Speaking of him, got married in '94, had another rug rat in '97, our daughter Brooke, that we almost lost to a brain hemorrage when she was just 3 weeks old..now at 11 and doing what 11 yr old girls do...other than that, it's been life!!

School Story:

Best one i can remember: Mrs. Edwards, 10th or 11th grade chemistry? Anyway, she goes out on maternity leave, Mrs. Chappell is the sub for the last 6 weeks and last part of the 2nd semester...all the "smart" people (Sandy Becerra, Laura Bridgeman, Neal Spiers, Karl Wagner, proly a couple more but hey, it's been over 20 yrs now) and the rest of us start failing...I don't mean just a one letter grade drop, I'm talking crash and burn, "parents going to flip when they see these grades" failing. Somebody (either John Eubanks or Aubrey Henley, sorry fellas but it's my story, lol) says "We should steal the grade book...They can't fail us if they don't have the grades"...so, we did. Dale McLawhorn, Johnny Eu, myself, Neal Spiers, and I want to say Aubrey was involved...one got it off the desk, one passed it to another, one to another and ole Neal, boy, he ran like the wind to the bushes in front of the school and dropped it on the way to lunch...plan worked to perfection, until ole Beasley Jones hooked Neal up to his lie detector (I think it was just "Neal, son, I'm going to fail you unless you tell me where it is...just give it back and everything will be fine")...well, the book was returned, and to everybody's surprise, we all received the same grade for the last semester we got for the 1st, so it all worked out. There's other memories, beach weeks, party's at the house (the one the night we all were susposed to graduate but it got postponed to Saturday morning due to thunderstorms...talk about a hangover, that one I still remember!!) and people passed out all over the den, but at least we're all still around to talk and laugh about it. Have ran into a few and had the pleasure to hoist a drink with a few more. Thanks Emil for the page. Hope to see you all at the reunion.

Any high points in your life since high school?

Sure, my kids, making the State Team for the VA Bass Federation, twice, and not dying from alchohol poisoning!! bout sums it up

What's the farthest you've been from home?

a land far far away in a time long long ago

What are some things still left on your "Bucket List"

dump the bucket!!
