School Story:
Best one i can remember: Mrs. Edwards, 10th or 11th grade chemistry? Anyway, she goes out on maternity leave, Mrs. Chappell is the sub for the last 6 weeks and last part of the 2nd semester...all the "smart" people (Sandy Becerra, Laura Bridgeman, Neal Spiers, Karl Wagner, proly a couple more but hey, it's been over 20 yrs now) and the rest of us start failing...I don't mean just a one letter grade drop, I'm talking crash and burn, "parents going to flip when they see these grades" failing. Somebody (either John Eubanks or Aubrey Henley, sorry fellas but it's my story, lol) says "We should steal the grade book...They can't fail us if they don't have the grades"...so, we did. Dale McLawhorn, Johnny Eu, myself, Neal Spiers, and I want to say Aubrey was involved...one got it off the desk, one passed it to another, one to another and ole Neal, boy, he ran like the wind to the bushes in front of the school and dropped it on the way to lunch...plan worked to perfection, until ole Beasley Jones hooked Neal up to his lie detector (I think it was just "Neal, son, I'm going to fail you unless you tell me where it is...just give it back and everything will be fine")...well, the book was returned, and to everybody's surprise, we all received the same grade for the last semester we got for the 1st, so it all worked out. There's other memories, beach weeks, party's at the house (the one the night we all were susposed to graduate but it got postponed to Saturday morning due to thunderstorms...talk about a hangover, that one I still remember!!) and people passed out all over the den, but at least we're all still around to talk and laugh about it. Have ran into a few and had the pleasure to hoist a drink with a few more. Thanks Emil for the page. Hope to see you all at the reunion.
