Marion L. Anderson (December 2, 1949 - December 26, 2008)

Marion L. Anderson, 59, of Dixon, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital, Dixon. She was a teacher at the Dixon High School for over 30 years. Ms. Anderson was born December 2, 1949 in Plaquemine, LA, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Smith) LeBlanc. Marion graduated from Southern University in Louisiana with a Bachelor’s Degree and Northern Illinois University with her Master’s Degree. Marion was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church, Dixon, the Dixon Education Association, Illinois Education Association, and the National Education Association.

Survivors include one daughter, DeShawn Anderson of Chicago; one son, Marquis LeBlanc of Dixon; five brothers, Joseph LeBlanc of Dixon, Curtis (Ethel Ellington) LeBlanc of Atlanta, GA, Donald (Sookie) LeBlanc of Dixon, Robert (Mary Lynn Ross) LeBlanc of Dixon, Michael (Ceola) LeBlanc of Dixon; five sisters, Ernestine (Grady) Daniels of Sterling, Joan (Curt Smith) LeBlanc of Dixon, Barbara (Larry) Criss, Sterling, Linda (James Parks) LeBlanc of Dixon, Brenda (Arthur Ross) LeBlanc of Freeport; two aunts, Iona Watley of Dixon, Lois Garland-Patterson of New York, NY; two uncles, Joseph Patterson, of Dixon, William Shaw of Kenner, LA; one great Aunt, Lillian Bartley, of Plaquemine, LA; three godchildren, Vincent (Treva) Mitchell of Houston, TX, LaChante (Joe) Schmitt of Brookfield, IL, Kyle LeBlanc of Dixon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Mary Ann LeBlanc.
