Cowboy Boots...

An elderly couple, Margaret and Bert, moved to Texas .

Bert always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots, so, seeing some on sale, he bought them and wore them home.
Walking proudly, he sauntered into the kitchen and said to his wife,"Notice anything different about me?"

Margaret looked him over. "Nope."

Frustrated, Bert stormed off into the bathroom, undressed and walked back into the kitchen completely naked except for the boots.
Again he asked Margaret, a little louder this time,"Notice anything different NOW?"
Margaret looked up and exclaimed, "Bert, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow!"
Furious, Bert yelled, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN, MARGARET?"
"Nope", she replied.
"IT'S HANGING DOWN, BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!

"Without changing her expression, Margaret replied, "Shoulda bought a hat, Bert.
Shoulda bought a hat."

Marijayne Rogers (Kruus)

Mark, etc.,

Today I was listening to my XM radio, for which I have two bastions of liberalism plugged into "quick channels": Bruce Springsteen and CNN! Well, I had the pleasure of listening to the entire address of "our friend" Rush L. to all of his like-minded conservatives at some empowerment convention - which was being broadcast on CNN ... yes, that's CNN, NOT FOX!

AND, all I kept thinking was ... MAN, DOES HE SOUND LIKE HE'S ON DRUGS OR WHAT? Go figure!!!! Hope he runs in 2012! He's got my vote for sure!

MJ

p.s. Sitting back and waiting for the fireworks to begin!

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

WOW - MJ - No one's taking the bait!!! NO POSTINGS since the 28th...."Where have all the people gone?"

03/02/09 05:23 PM #1996

Marijayne Rogers (Kruus)

Elisa,

To Facebook, they've gone! We've been abandoned!

03/02/09 07:09 PM #1997

Brett Johnson

Where have all the posters gone
Long time passing
Where have all the posters gone
Long time ago
Where have all the posters gone
Gone to Facebook everyone
Oh when will they ever learn?
Oh when will they, ever learn?

03/02/09 07:42 PM #1998

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

Well done Brett - that tune was running through my head when I posted the question!!

MJ - bummer. Facebook is okay - but it moves so much faster than this forum - too much to keep up with.

I see from the friend suggestion I got today that Mark has gone to Facebook as well....looks like the excitement might really just be over here.

haha

Cherie Santelli (Kwiatkowski)

I still like this forum when people are on and posting!! No one is ever on at the same time as I am. Used to be the posts were fast and furious here. On Facebook I feel like I have to jump from friend to friend to see what people have going on on their pages. Maybe I'm just not facebooking correctly!!

TO ALL

I am still here. But my life has been so BORING lately, I have nothing to say. Truly. I can't think of one interesting thing that has happened to me lately. Ben split his head open yesterday running into the banister in our living room. But we seem to have pulled it together without the need for stiches. Went to school with an egg on his forehead and nice round bandaid in the center of it. Looked at it tonight. Looks like it will heal, scar strong possibility. Elisa-- liked the cowboy joke. A hat is always better than boots!!! HA HA

Where has our little republican Al K gone???

Love ya Al, get back on line.

Mary Cosman (Connell)

BTW I WILL STAY LOYAL TO THE FORUM THIS IS MY PLEDGE!!

Al Kostecki

M.B.,
I'm here.
I hate RUSH, he is a drug addict that received prescription drugs illegally, he should be in jail.
But, because of who he is he got off.
He used to talk down about those who had addictions,
while he had the same problem.
I no longer listen to the hypocrite.

P.S. I prefer Chainsaw over little republican..lol

Miss you M.B.

Marijayne Rogers (Kruus)

Allen,

Yeah, we finally agree about something!!! Rush, that is!

03/02/09 10:27 PM #2004

Mary Cosman (Connell)

Al K
Totally agree with you re Rush Limbaugh. An addict and a hypocrite. Just like that toe tapper politician that was so against homosexuality. Then turns out to be lookin for tricks in the airport bathrooms!
Love you too-- you old chainsaw!
Mar

PS to all-- It is lobsterfest at my place of employment, so I tend to work a lot so I will be in and out. Last year I worked 21 days straight (part time) and cleared around 3500 in tips. So I tend to work alot right now.
:0) :0) :0) :0) Money money money,,, MONEY!

03/02/09 11:17 PM #2005

Marijayne Rogers (Kruus)

Mary,

I was thinking about you last week when my daughter and I went to Lobsterfest when we were visiting my mom in Maryland. Unfortunately, both of my kids have developed a taste for lobster - which is sometimes very expensive for us. My daughter and I wound up sharing the ultimate lobster fest, so it wasn't as expensive as it could have been.

And while I tried my best to squat - I brought a book and my daughter brought crayons and paper, they were happy to bring our check as soon as the last course was served!!! I didn't complain, in deference to YOU!!!

Love ya,
MJ

Brett,

Always the one without a shortage of clever prose!

03/03/09 08:26 AM #2007

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

Mary - I cannot take credit for the cowboy joke - Janet posted that.

Laughed out loud (sorry little guy) at the way you told the story about your son...."But we pulled it back together without needing stitches." Oh the cartoon sketch that was playing in my head of you and hubby pushing on your little guy's head to "put it back together." Sounded a little like Humpty Dumpty. Hope he's doing better now.

I agree that it is easier to follow this forum (who'd have thunk it?) than facebook. Too many people posting too many different places to keep up when on facebook.

03/03/09 09:43 AM #2008

Mary Cosman (Connell)

Yea

I signed in once under a made up id. Cant remember it or my password, tho I have it somewhere in my files. I found it tedious(sp) and narcisstic(sp) to say the least. Don't get why people want to post pics of themselves thinking they are cool. Or sexy or slutty whatever. Never even got to the bloggin stage. Couldn't find anyone I knew (cept Al J --- who's pics are nice, not ridiculous like some ot them) Call me old school cause I AM old school.
Gotta go to work.

Have a great day all!

03/03/09 05:19 PM #2009

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

Mary - I can totally see how people get themselves into trouble with what they post on sites like FB and myspace.

Most adults I know use it "responsibly" but for teens it is a disaster waiting to happen. Kids get this sense of anonymity when it comes to posting on these sites. They don't all get the whole cyber space thing.

I was subbing in a class that went to the library/computer lab. The director was explaining how they could not go to unapproved sites, etc. And he gave them a talk about being careful on the web - once stuff is out there - IT IS OUT THERE. The kids totally did NOT understand that if they put a photo up that they later decided to take down - that didn't mean it was gone. Someone could have downloaded it and it could show up again somewhere else. (specifically the suggestive pics these kids think are okay to put online...I think they take the photos themselves. I think most would be embarrassed to have someone photographing them doing the stupid/sleazy things they do. But because they don't see anyone else when they take the picture and then they don't see the reactions/responses of those seeing the photos - they lose the sense of appropriateness.)

Anyway...those are some of my thoughts about young people using these sites....they don't use them appropriatly and don't understand how what they do now COULD affect them down the road...

03/03/09 05:41 PM #2010

Cherie Santelli (Kwiatkowski)

I think you are right, Elisa, about how some teens just post pictures of anything on their pages. My 16 year-old daughter said something about how stupid someone was because this person posted pictures on her facebook page of herself drinking. My daughter said to me, "How stupid is she?!"

03/03/09 11:22 PM #2011

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

That's good your daughter can see how stupid some of these kids can be.... most seem to think it is harmless and they can take the photo down when they want....little do they realize who may have already downloaded it.

Mary - how was the Lob tonight? Everytime I see that Lobster Fest commercial I think of how yummy it looks and then wonder how many trays of it you've carried to tables!

MJ - Still - no one really taking the bait for the next wild conversation you were trying to start! Bummer...

03/04/09 01:49 PM #2012

So are Mary, Cherie, MJ and I the last one to ever even look at this board let alone post????
