Subject: Donview the 70's

I was in the 2nd graduating class - I started Grade 8 the year Donview opened. There are no '50's grads but there are a some from the sixties. I'm thinking I was graduated in 67 because that Fall I was on a Grade 10 school trip to Expo so that means Donview opened in 65. I remember that I was in the school the afternoon of the big blackout.

The teachers were totally different from the ones you "kids" are talking about however. Mr. Llewellyn and M Grignard & the math teacher Mr. Smart[?] are the ones I remember. Richard Llewellyn was a weird Welshman and a ton of fun too. M Grignard taught French and lived in our neighbourhood, so he tutored my friend Janice & me over the summer after grade 8.

We had great school dances and some guys in our class had a band called the "Hobbits", that played at least one of those dances.

Somewhere I have the class photo - will post it up when I find it.

Feel free to let me know if you hear from anyone in my era

Best regards, Kate Odell

Haha,
Lori, your mention of the band "the hobbits" that played a few dances reminded me of my brother's band "Gemineye"! The school was kind enough to let them play at dances too. mind you, they were in high-school by then but had all gone to Donview. I remember being "cool" for a change because MY BROTHER was up there being a rock star!! This would have been some time in 82-84 or so. Thanks for jogging my memory, I'm laughing my head off about it!

Hi all I was in Donview in the late 80's. My class was the first to change from grade 8 into high school at grade 9. I had a great time in the school. My friends were all cool and the teachers made these years very memorable. I still keep in contact with some of my friends. One of my favorite class trips was Clairmonte.

We are looking for school pictures from 1965 to current.

Please send me a message with the pictures and I'll upload them to the gallery.

Thanks.

I was there from '65 and I remember Mr Llewellyn!  He was my fav,  until I got glasses part way through grade 8 and he started calling me "the intelligent looking one with the glasses'  (but I forgave him)  lol!  We made an animated film for English class.....never saw the end result though.
