I recently completed my Ph.D. in General Psychology. I am currently spending most of my time teaching college (mostly online - what a great gig!). I am also very active in my community with disaster preparedness and disaster relief activities. I have most recently been asked to be the team leader for my Red Cross chapter's Disaster Mental Health team.
Typical teenagers! Heidi Nostrum, Sandy Stover, and I decided to let out our inner five year olds by playing ring around the rosy on a trampoline (along with Sandy's dog). When we got to the part where "we all fall down" - we did! The trampoline broke and we all wound up on our butts on the ground. :)
I went to college - first at Georgia Southern University, then at Georgia State University where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and then a Master of Science in Community Counseling. I have since gone back to school and completed a Ph.D. in General Psychology.
I spend my spare time divided between visiting family in Douglasville and volunteering here in Augusta. I have been a disaster mental health volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Medical Reserve Corps for several years now, and am also part of the East Georgia Crisis Response Network - a community based team that provides psychological first aid after a disaster or other critical incident.
After several years as a practicing psychotherapist, I am mostly teaching now - I am an Assistant Professor with South University. I do still do some clinical work on a volunteer basis.
Lost, Battlestar Gallactica (the recent version), CSI (the original), 24, Rescue Me, pretty much anything with depth (and some without). :) I also spend a good bit of time watching the Discovery and History International channels.
I read a lot! I have recently been reading books from the major world faiths. I have read the Bible cover-to-cover, as well as the Torah, the Koran, and the Dhammapada. I also like to read historical fiction and procedural mysteries (such as Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta novels).
