Everyone calls me Ron. Well, I live in rural Western North Carolina. My life has come full circle...oops..I hope not! I left Danville in 1978 and moved to Asheville, NC and learned to tend bar. This occupation lead me to Miami in 1983. While living there, I finished my degree and began teaching sixth grade in Little Havana. I really loved Miami, but tired of people pollution (over crowding)and RUSH HOUR traffic, and left for Daytona Beach. I lived there for 4 years before returning to the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains in 1996. I often think I am going to wake up and wonder what I am doing here as it was always one of my dreams to live my adult life in a big metropolis. Instead, I live in county of only 35,000 people...not even the size of Danville!
My job and gardening are my two passions. As well, a friend and I run a vacation rental business here in Dillsboro, NC. The views here are spectacular, and I feel I am on a perpetual vacation! I earned a masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Instructional Technology and another masters in school administration.
I was just hired as an assistant principal. The position is shared by two schools, an elementary and middle school, in Waynesville,NC in Haywood County which is located just west of Asheville. I love my job! Also, I am a clinician for the Model Clinical Teaching Program at Western Carolina University just around the mountain in Cullowhee, NC.
I am glad Jo got this web site started. It will be great to connect with old friends.
