Paul Berg

Paul R. Berg, 63, of 2069 Key Largo Drive, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at home, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.

A prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. To celebrate Paul's life, friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1948, in Dubuque, son of Arthur and Helen (Schmal) Berg. Paul served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972.

He worked for Giese Sheet Metal as a master welder.

He married Debbie Leib on Dec. 13, 1985.

Paul enjoyed old guns and welding. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and making wine. He was a perfectionist and was very passionate about everything he did. Paul's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, his family and his beloved beagle, Maci.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Berg, of Dubuque; his children, Pam Beversdorf, Bill Berg, Karl (Lynn Bradshaw) Berg and Ronda Berg, all of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Brittany, Kaitlyn and Joseph; a great-grandchild, Camie; and a sister, Betty Mueller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Swift; and a brother, Al Berg.

A Paul R. Berg Memorial Fund has been established.
