Sister Irma (Mary Joyce) Schumacher was born February 9, 1930 and departed this life February 2, 2001 in the 52nd year of her Religious life.

Sister attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Immaculate Conception Academy for high school, graduating in 1947.  Sister spent the next year working which included making signs and decorating windows at a local dime store and working several months at a bank.

On August 25, 1948 Sr. Irma entered Mount St. Francis.  She professed final vows on August 10, 1954.

Sister Irma taught primary grades at Holy Ghost, in Dubuque, Dyersville, Bancroft, Stacyville and Oyens.  For 12 of these years she helped prepare the children for their First Holy Communion, one of her greatest delights. 

Sister Irma, at the request of the community, became a certified Occupational Therapy working at Holy Family Hall for over 23 years until back problems forced her to resigned.

Sister Irma died of cancer.
